They're spying on me too, but unlike it was for you, domestic surveillance here in the U.S. is a massive operation involving multiple levels of government, private governent contactors, and of course the NSA which I learned somewhere is now sharing its information with this program, the FBI, state police etc, and it is just logical to come basically to the same conclusion as you did as to why are they doing this if I am not really a threat, and that is because all of these jobs are part of an array of programs which are originally funded the defense industry. The defense industry needs to have a continual enemy in order to survive in a strong way on the stock market so that big banks and other big industries can have a sure bet as to what to invest in. It's all about money and power. So, in the case of this national operation, the way they justify themselves is by simply expanding and maligning what constitues a threat to the nation.
