This is well done - clearly lots of time spent researching and assembling this.

Well done. I am surprised that this one has not been viewed more. We are in the process of integrating mobile technologies into our classroom. This video will help us explain our purpose. Thanks again for a job well done!

@stoneybrook99 Thanks... where are you using cell phones as instructional tools? Keep up the progressive thinking and use the tools we have to teach the now generation of students.... How can you help to spread this video?

@Triumphguy1 The video tells it all. We must be open to creative approaches to meet learners at their level of engagement. Our students spend countless hours online, texting, and playing video games. We need to harness these tools to bring engagement to the 21st Century classroom. Step into my classroom for a day and you'll see how hard it is to reach today's youth. With cell phones I can direct them to a more guided use of technology for positive results and an empowered future.

@Triumphguy1 They are already there. The question is not, "should they be allowed?" The question should be, "how do we harness cellphones for constructive use and engagement?"

For anyone looking to use my film for professional presentations... please consider fair use and creative commons. All I ask is that you follow the model that other like @brankam has provided (above) and let me know by email how you intend to use the film, the audience, platform, and reactions. I hope this helps. Thanks.

@TheFrostymountains SAT scores show us literacy, vocab, and math ability. Considering the US focus' on providing a free public education to all types of learners and socio-economic backgrounds. Education reform needs to focus on individual needs instead of trying to applying these one fix solutions to a variety of problems. Mobile technology helps with communication, problem solving, and critical thinking all of which better prepares our students for real world scenarios.

I would like to use a portion of your video, particularly the intro and the rationale for your work. However, I am concerned with copyright on the Simpson's piece. May I use the beginning portion?

I have been trying to tell people this all year! Cell phones can be used to help with education! But no one listens to Kenny, he's just another 'rebellious kid' wanting to use his cell to text, I wouldn't text anyone in the class except for my friend, Charlie! My other friend doesn't have a cell phone.... :P

A great video that captures the nuances of using smart devices (tablets, phones, etc.) for learning. One of the big misnomers around these devices in education comes from referring to them as phones. These devices are capable, and used, for far more experiences beyond making a call. They are mini computers and need to be treated as such.
