Decker was at fault. Good analysis.
ОтветитьIt was Zola's fault for cutting in too soon, the rule is to cut in so not as to impede with other runners... well it's pretty obvious it was impeding.
ОтветитьIntelligent analysis. Wish I'd seen this at the time.
ОтветитьI think all 4 were boxed in way too close. Wow! I never could run that close to other runner's back in my competition track days. That was just too close. I think Mary was boxed in too damn tight by Puica (the blonde from Romania), the British lady, & Zola.
ОтветитьMary decker milked it like the actors 5 miles up the road in Hollywood....Pure Wisconsin milking cow...eff her...
ОтветитьI don't think what Zola was intentional. Shit happens. That's racing folks.
ОтветитьZola took a wide step and an extra long sride in order to trip her up!
ОтветитьThis was back when Olympic coverage were about the sports and not the fluff. ABC always nailed its Olympic coverage.
ОтветитьWhen I watched it in 1984, I thought Decker was a big baby. 37 years later, I still think so.
ОтветитьZola should have never been in the race, same on Britain for making her an “instant” citizen just so she can complete. I know the exception was not granted for other South African athletics.
ОтветитьNormally when a runner passes from behind and having incidental contact with the leader it’s runner attempting to pass fault.
ОтветитьDecker was wrong
ОтветитьDecker ruined Zola's Olympics, the other way around
ОтветитьMarty Liquori doing a great job breaking it down. I remember seeing a show he hosted about major road races when I was in high school that was very informative.
