How to Beat Grid Hip-Hop in Traktor

Sorry to be negative but this is no diff than other DJTT grid videos. The best advice given is the tap feature, letting you feel the beat, which is usually just the snares if you listen close enough (so beat grid the snares). Another thing to note is the metronome. Why did you not use this? Invaluable tool used to make sure beat grids are "perfect" as you say yours are. And wtf is up with that high pitch clicking sound throughout the whole video? Sorry but its very annoying.

Awesome, nice to see a hip hop tutorial! You guys should do one on old school funk tracks (or tracks with live drummers). BPMs seem to vary a bit in older tracks.

Great tip on the first example. Don't mind the nitpicking - it's the message that counts. I'll co-sign that the Tap method does work pretty well - makes you use your ears.

Any idea where to get intro versions of songs like this?

good to see a vid that covers something other than 4/4 (with exception of eans live drums one) with a couple of solid tweaking tips however, i've never got why in any tutorial people don't just drop the first marker on the very first point of the track? in both examples of this one that's where it ended up... and 99% of the time that's where it'll need to be, excluding tracks that have somekind of one shot before the drop. that's how i work, and tweak from there if needed...

i'm having a problem beatgriding tracks with older drums such as come with me by diddy and jimmy page, traktor messes up the beat gridding which looks like it should be simple, maybe i just don't get it

@syn3rgy1 make your own intro, you can set it up to loop 8 beats and then kick it in when your ready, or if you wanted you could load it into adobe audition or any audio editing program and cut an instrumental part out that you like. .its not hard at all

My layout is different for the grid mapping. Is there a way to set it up so it's like this? Mine does not have an 'place a beat marker' button, it combines it it the auto beat grid placement. It also does not have the trash can or reset buttons. I am also using Traktor Scratch Pro. Any one know how to fix this?

Uhh, both hip hop tracks in this example are in 4/4 time and most hip hop and breakbeat stuff is in 4/4, contrary to what this guy says.
