CBT rubs me the wrong way. I got a therapist that basically just told me what my teachers told me. Write more things down, divide tasks better, basically just dont be ADHD.

I got an exercise for self compassion and i had to take a negative thought i think about myself and create an opposite. And then try it out for two weeks. Try out how? I have many negative thoughts about myself, usually when i mess up. I know i am not dumb, and telling myself i am not dumb is not going to change the fact what i did.

CBT... you keep using that acronym. I do not think it means what I thought it means (computer based training. huh???). hehe.... But wait! There's even more! (love these videos!!) This is the very type of process I need to address anxiety. Thanks! One more thing "Hot Chocolate Happens" I'm definitely running with that phrase. Thanks, again!!! Your videos are about the only ADHD videos I can actually watch for more than about 45 seconds. I can get to the end, even! Sorry, I shouldn't criticize the other content out there. Just saying, your style works very well for me. More Thanks!

Don't worry about things outside of your control. It's your decision how you decide to act that will ultimately shape how you feel and the kind of person you are.

Jessica, I have watched a bunch of your videos, I like many of them. When you talk about adhd, please seperate or specify if you mean with drugs or without drugs. We are many people who have not gotten the diagnosis yet and need lots of advice and coping tricks to make life easier until we get diagnosed and get drugs helping us. You do a splendid jobb but please be a bit more specific.

You, who has ADHD, are like a ray of sunshine on a rainy day. Remember, ADHD is not a disease; it is your brilliant uniqueness, and the world needs your brightness. Don't be discouraged! Don't let negative words shake you more than the certainty you have within yourself. We live in a world full of judgments and quick opinions, so it's important to remember that your intelligence doesn't depend on the temporary criteria others set. Ignoring gossip and empty criticism is a form of resistance. You, with a brilliant mind, should not belittle yourself because of others' limited views. What truly matters are not the negative words trying to reach you but the confidence you have in yourself. True intelligence goes beyond labels and quick judgments, revealing itself in actions, the ability to recover, and constant growth

sorry but too much mental gymastic , if someone spit on you and slap you in the face , I won't be thinking "oh he must have a bad day, everyone has a bad day, its fine"

Eye for an Eye , end of story.
Follow your intuition and gut feeling, if someone seems not to be sorry for their bad action you have every right to expose and confront them.

Disapointed , came for clear answers and technics but it was a whole lot of nothing and self-blaming for others bad actions towards you.
Basically "dont take it personal and move on".

Here is another proof that psychology and therapy are not an exact science full of interpretations and personal biaises.

CBT seems like common sense for anyone, not just people with add/adhd . It's an insulting shallow treatment. Only helps with self awareness, not much else.

working through my Autism diagnosis at the age of 31, and one thing I learned is that CBT is generally less effective for autistic people, and the more effective therapy is DBT. since your husband (or you? or both of you? I forget) is autistic and it's likely I'm not the only channel watcher with both ADHD and Autism could you add a video about DBT to your list of possible idea topics for the future?

When my kid was seeing a BT, my favorite takeaway was the "hacks" or different things we could try to add to our personal tool kit. We are still benefiting from that time, 4 years ago. (An example that came up recently) Pretzel breaths still help my kid & I've recently discovered, using an essential oil inhaler along with deep breathing is the only way (that I've found) that makes the whole focus-on-your-breath thing work for me.

Isnt CBT = "just do it" made into little programms like "writte stuff down" "draw a picture about it" "just do it uuhh ohh never mind ignore that i mean "cbt special method execture it" people like 🤩😍🤩🤩🤩🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓 so smaaaaaart 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😳😲😲😲😳😳😳😳😯😯🤠🤠😻

do a study where you tell people to "just do it" and hide that and compare it to CBT blind the raters and let them rate them over a couple of weeks improtantly make it 1 week before you start rating so the novelty and exitement goes away, dont make it obvious basically dont fart in the face and say that is the placebo obviously that wont work gotta be as convincing as the CBT

I've been going through cbt with my therapist for the past month and its really draining at times. Literally every alternative thought i think of, my therapist tells me that's wrong, she's really nice abt it and never actually says its wrong just suggests something else that might be more suitable but it just leaves me feeling as if I've done something wrong and feeling very self depracitive about it

This is the best description of CBT I've heard and jt it explains why its never worked for my wife (undiagnosed but clearly ND), but also I've recognised that I do a lot of the postive things CBT is supposed to teach you, because of just convinced myself a long time ago it was more logical 😅 looking forward to your DBT video now

I have found that CBT can be helpful AS LONG AS the therapist fosters and cares about the therapeutic relationship.

Also, since I do have a traumatic background, my therapist does use CBT, but also uses different methods when appropriate. I think the key is having a therapist who is flexible in their approach and focused on getting you what you need.

As a practicing REBT Psychotherapist with ADHD, just wanted to say thanks for giving credit to Albert Ellis for his work! I have found that the somewhat irreverent and rough-and-tumble nature of REBT has been very helpful for many clients, including many I treat who have ADHD. 👍

ADHD is like a road trip with a bad GPS. Sure it'll keep you on the highway for a little bit, but next thing you know, you're taking the wrong exit and now you're in some small town you're unfamiliar with and have to navigate back to the highway while ignoring the directions the GPS keeps giving you.
