Just for the record ... It did take a bit of time to find and prepare the dead wood to make this shelter. Thank you for the comment.

NO, it would not count, The situation is NO TENT, TARP, PLASTIC, only what is "naturally around you" such as trees rocks and what GOD has put on this Earth. THANKS FOR RESPONDING.

This challenge may have changed since it was first introduced. But the original challenge was to try and set up shelter in under 5 minutes. Could be a tent, tarp or simply climb into a cave. I checked it out with the original channel before filming.

Those conditions are lame and have no benefits for the stranded and surprised conditions. As we all know when the SHTF, many will not have anything with them, (food and portable shelter). having prepared cut wood, tarp and a tent, most likely know what they are doing. Sorry, it's a very lame challenge.

rope and tarp is not NATURALLY around you. You have to purchase the tarp and rope. Why not buy a tent for fucks sake. Humans are freaking stupid.

I appreciated the difficulty you had, with the wind, and the need for stakes...I carry a tarp and rope for emergencies, but never thought of the need for stakes. I've had a staked tent blow off down the prairie in eastern Washington. I really liked your set-up - very creative.

I had a hex tent blow down just enough for the fly to blow off. I did not peg it down and had to stay inside the tent to keep it from blowing away. The rain pored in the screen roof and soaked everything including me. Now I always peg it down. Always.

I reckon your 5min is a bit much, factoring in that 'your' shelter also includes getting you up off the ground, I am concerned however that in less than favourable conditions you will be left in the cold with no way of putting a fire close to you and whilst air circulating around your body is great for warm conditions you can freeze in cold conditions.......it's my first look at your videos perhaps you have addressed this elsewhere .........you shelter idea is fantastic though for warm months thanks

Hmmm, little misleading, what if you had nothing ready? Could you do it? For example you left your back pack somewhere while you hiked down a creek got turned around couldn't get back to your pack or tent and light is fading fast. Now keeping your head together and building a shelter in five with a fire would be nice to see.

Your title is misleading.. You are cheating.. How long to gather and make poles, etc.? That shelter lets all of wind through.. It will only keep off rain if there is no wind at all..
..... No clocks allowed.? Extra cheat..

The "ahead of time prep work" of the tripods and materials takes a little away from what most may expect these videos to show. However! The concept is to share knowledge. You Sir, have done that! Thankyou. That is a unique design to me and I appreciate the idea of it.
People on the net tend to be mean. Ignore them as best you can. I see several positive comments.
The making of a tripod is doable with natural materials...not in 5min; so your concept is viable! One can't always find trees spaced ideally apart on a suitable land area. One tree and a tripod could change the scenario in a survival situation.
Like I said, the goal of the challenge is to share knowledge and not necessarily succeed in under 5 min.
Thankyou again Sir.

Nice shelter. I like the way your hammock chairs block the wind and the camp cot is adaptable to several types of set ups. I like to make a complete set up one day. You've made some very cool equipment. The  Amazing Hobo Stove ain't bad either. :)

I really like the use of tripods, gives a different way of making shelter if you don't have a tent but you have a tarp & cordage & nylon chair materials & cot.Next challenge. Can you make tripods & shelter with only natural materials on hand? I am subscribed to your channel! Thanks! :-)

WTF?? This a joke, right? If not...then please allow me to inform you that despite your bushcraft skills (which appear to be rudimentary, at best) you clearly lack comprehension skills. This no different than someone starting their timer and pulling a fully set-up tent into the picture and taking 5 minutes to put on a rain fly. And it still took you like 8 minutes. This video is horseshit, sorry pal.

Lol the previous comments and your candid replies bud. Kudos to you. You passed the preparation test for sure. Lol. Loved the finished product, fab. Yours is the first I've seen to tie out your guylines that way. And great fire pit. Them clipper lighters are the best. And kudos for keeping it all so simple (though you did "cheat" with prep of items, lol). Always something to be learned from you Jeep.

It shows what being prepared can do. Otherwise it's going to take more time and more energy. Well built shelter. Good fire place using the rocks.

I use a hammock that I tie around the tree and then tie to the other tree and then adjust the first one and sometimes the second one. It takes me 3-4 back and forth to get it up right. I also use a military poncho that can be used as a tubular bivy that I carabiner to the hammock instead of using it as a tarp. The way you set up your cot looks very comfortable and lightweight but it takes a longer time to setup and I wouldn't trust it on a windy day. My setup takes me 1-2 minutes. My setup leaves no evidence of me being there which is only good if I'm not lost. The only problem I have is that my hammock is too large and that rain drips down into my sleeping bag. I could get a waterproof sleeping bag but idk if that would work well or not. My setup is wind proof except for the feet and head area. I might need a bigger tarp but that would ruin my peglessness unless I tie the gromete holes shut.
