Qur'an 11 : 101 - ... *So their alihah (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked,* profited them naught when there came *the Command of your Lord,* nor did they add aught to them but destruction.
Qur'an 31 : 25 - And if you ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth," they will certainly say: "Allah. " Say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah!" But most of them know not.
30. - Allah, He is the Truth, and that which they invoke besides Him is Al-Batil
32. - And when a wave covers them like shades they invoke Allah, making their invocations for Him only. But when He brings them safe to land, there are among them those that stop in between (Belief & disbelief).

Even ancient pagans at time of distress called on Allah alone, recall Surah fil, this makes them less pagan in this affair then extremists sufi and shi'a, the kitabis within this ummah!

Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir reported: The Prophet, peace & blessings be upon him, said, “Supplication is worship itself.” Then, the Prophet recited the verse, (40 : 60) “Your Lord says: Call upon Me and I will respond to you. Verily, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell in humiliation.” (40:60)

Summary, Tawhid has 3 Categories : 1) Rubb 2) Ilah 3) Siffat
1) Lordship = Connect to acts & laws of the Creator
2) God = One worshiped, or acts by creation assigned by & done for the Creator!
3) (Names & Attributes, not being mentioned here, but letting you know)

Quran 35 :22 - Verily, Allah makes whom He wills to hear, but you cannot make hear those who are in graves. -

Quran 6 : 50 - Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I don't tell you that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor (that) I know the Unseen; nor I tell you that I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me."

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah Peace & blessings on him said: “There is no one who sends Salaam upon me, but Allaah will restore to me my soul so that I may return his Salaam.” (Abi Dawood Sahih)

A) Intercessions :

Wrong Polytheistic intercession :
Quran 10 :18 - And they worship besides Allah things that harm them not, nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do you inform Allah of that which He knows not in the heavens and on the earth?" Glorified and Exalted is He above all that which they associate as partners!

Correct Intercession:
Quran 39 :44 - Say: "To Allah belongs all intercession. His is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you shall be brought back."

Bhukari 589 - Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace & blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever hears the call to prayer & says, ‘O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, give Muhammad the privilege & honor of intercession, & raise him to the praiseworthy status that you have promised him,’ then my intercession will be allowed for him on the Day of Resurrection.”

B) Wasila

Quran 5 : 35 - O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah & fear Him. & seek the means of approach to Him...

polytheistic Wasila rejected :
Quran 17 :57 - Those whom they call upon [like 'Îsa (Jesus), 'Uzair (Ezra), angel] desire means of access to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be the nearest; and they hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment... -

They are creation like you, & don't do dua to creation in shirk!

Correct Wasila

Quran 34: 37 - And it is not your wealth, nor your children that bring you nearer to Us, but only he who believes (Islamic Monotheism), & does righteous deeds;...

3 Main ways :

1) Quran 7 :180 - & (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah , so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impiety against) His Names....

2) Asking living righteous who is able to hear & help. Sahih Bukari 964
Anas ibn Malik reported: ...Umar would say, “O Allah, we used to ask our Prophet, peace & blessings be upon him, to supplicate for rain and you would bless us with rain. Now (that he has passed away) we ask the uncle (Al Abbas bin Abdul Mutallib) of our Prophet to supplicate for rain, so bless us with rain.” And so it would rain.

* This is clear proof you aren't to ask the graves and is shirk. *

Quran 72 : 20. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I invoke only my Lord (Allah), & I associate none as partners along with Him."
21. Say: "It is not in my power to cause you harm, or to bring you to the Right Path."

3) Through one's good deeds, Sahuh Bukhari 2215
Ibn `Umar: The Prophet (peace & blessings on him) said, "While 3 persons were walking, rain began to fall & they had to enter a cave in a mountain. A big rock rolled over & blocked the mouth of the cave. They said to each other, 'Invoke Allah with the best deed you have performed... O Allah! If You regard that I did it sincerely for Your sake, then please remove the rock.' So, the rock was removed completely from the mouth of the cave."

Asalam ALeikum brother I am an english speaker learning Arabic, can you tell me about Abu Nuaym al Asbahani, is he Athari? Where can I read his works or about him from a salafi scholar? I am trying to collect Different Athari quotes on Tawhid Siffat and works between Imam Ahmad and Ibn Taymiyya to refute the doubt they weren't present in everytime though they were ijma in time of the salaf.
