Sublime and transcendant.
Ответитьmetallica version is better
This is one of the pieces Ligeti got a total of $3000(!) for from Kubrick, after being stolen already.
Tolles Stück!
This is the real music of angels.
I played this marvellous composition on my phone with dolby atmos switched on, and it was a breathtaking sonic experience albeit on tiny speakers, but Wow...
Lux aeterna luceat eis Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis !

Let eternal light shine upon them Lord, with your saints forever, because you are merciful.
Grant them eternal peace, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them !

This piece is the musical equivalent of looking at the nightsky.
The 2001 space oddessy soundtrack was my favorite album. I was a weird kid at 3 or 4.
This is one of my all time favourite pieces of music...utterly beautiful and mysterious
Me sostiene
Now what's in here? Chicken!.....Ah! Ham!

Oi Lu!
For when you are researching the fine structure constant
Eterno dolore
Oh my God the layers the layers
Ответитьbest song / musical composition of all time
This music is simultaneously beautiful and terrifying
The liner notes should include the Hungarian composer György Ligeti, whose composition "Requiem" from 1965 forms the soundtrack of this scene.
Anyone know what that picture is or where it comes from?
Picture is the buddhabrot, the resulting of a different algorithm to generate the Mandelbrot fractal
Um, still trying to figure out what key this is in (ha); But I just did a synesthesia video to performances of Elgar's "Lux Aeterna" (Eternal Light), and it's almost eerie how both pieces begin with a an F-natural unison of voices. // The F note can (possibly) be seen as F-minor (green, in MY book), and that key is dependent on A-flat (cold blue), it's relative major. A-flat: death.
That's all the analysis I have, except that the Elgar piece, while starting on that F-note, is actually written in C# major (red-orange). To me, C# is a key of activity and vigor. And that key is tempered naturally by blue; A-flat. The key of death. The Requiem "Death Mass."
Please take a look at my Elgar video for any references you may want. It's performed my Voces-8 choir, and I feel it's the most...poignant rendition of the Elgar piece. It was just now uploaded (April, 2024), so it is a the top of my channel page.
Be well! // Your, Acoustic Rabbit Hole
In “new music” dissonance is like error diffusion, a smearing of pastels to keep the general abstract “I’m more arty than you are” vibe without having to actually come up with a single NEW IDEA.
Seems central to New Music
I like this piece even though he uses dissonance like a crutch more than a tool.
I was in a gy orgy once. It was sticky.
Spacey man. Turn it up!
Ответитьmmmmmmm........yesss 😑
Angel's music
2001 eternal
Listen to it in the DARK. It is terrifying, transcendent and sublime like no other work of art - in any medium. This is beyond the known paradigms of so-called music as a human construct. BEYOND THE INFINITE.
I always feel sad when I hear how 'creepy' this transporting music is to kids who've watched 2OO1: A Space Odyssey.
The Ligeti music used just before & during the 2OO1 StarGate sequence is utterly sublime.
Would reccomend staring at yourself in a window's reflection at night while this plays. If you look dead on and really focus some trippy stuff can happen
When I heard this in the movie, I went to my college music library and checked out the score. It's amazing to me that anyone could write it and that Kubric was smart enough to use it. How lucky we are to have people like this among us.
Beautiful music...
but it is illegal and wrong to upload here without copyright. Even if it is for good reason, it is still wrong
'2001' is my favorite film and this piece was my favorite part of the film (Moonbus scene). A Fantastic Performance. Bravo!
My first experience with avant garde music when I was seven. Have loved it ever since. Composers like Philip Glass and George Crumb. If you love this, go listen to Black Angels.
Gracias gracias gracias ❤❤❤
