Great advice, especially scheduling time for your own projects. That's something I need to apply. There always seems to be something to distract a persons attention if the time is not scheduled, written down, and adhered to. Thank you!
ОтветитьQuite obvious mistakes, but oftentimes it is exactly these obvious mistakes that we do not realize we're making. Great video!
ОтветитьDitto in 2017
ОтветитьYou make a lot of sense. Thanks
ОтветитьI hope you dont have a husbands, lads.
Ответитьhow would someone deal with that reverb that you have in your room?
ОтветитьThis was what I needed to hear. Thank you, keep up the good work!!
ОтветитьI agree with you! Make music should be joy. If we are frustating we can't make good music, and make bad music can' t be fun. I try to organize my home studio just for recording guitar, bass and vocals, a middle way between a pro and a home studio. If tomorrow something changes I'll have other chances and I'll do new choices. Thank you! Have fun with your music and job. Bye bye
ОтветитьDUDE I Know this is like 4 years ago but, THANK YOU! I really really needed this video. I haven't been applying any of this for SOOOO long! I think this is exactly what I needed. Looking forward to a great end of 2017 :P
ОтветитьYou know exactly what's going on around me I wish you always around me!
ОтветитьOne of the best advice I've got regarding music. Thank you
ОтветитьLove your videos! They've been super helpful! Do you have an email sign up for newsletters weekly too? Jw 😁✌
Ответитьto be honest its not about trying to look like a pro studio when you have the equipment and decorations that pro studios have thats when you get more artist to come to you thats when you can charge more for studio time , dont tell someone their wrong for trying to look the part when you look the part of something thats how you make more money and actually become something.
ОтветитьI got 100 times better results doing everything from recording, engineering, production, mastering my vocals and playing all the instruments by myself. In the past when I was a live singer song writer I paid thousands upon thousands for studio time to get complete garbage that is nowhere near as good as what I do by myself for free. Also relying on other musicians is a gamble. I am using protools 6.7 and the original Mbox with only 2 cheap mics and getting pro recordings. I have a system built that never freezes or crashes unlike the "modern studios". If what someone has is working perfect then why try to be like someone else? I can literally flip a switch and have my sessions open and recording within 3 minutes 24/7. To me that is everything when you are feeling inspired. Driving somewhere and waiting 20 minutes for everything to load up like I have in pro studios kills the vibe then it turns into work instead of enjoyment. Using the current setup I am getting my songs licensed all the time while the guys with millions in gear submit for the same stuff and get turned down. I will admit I have great plugins and great instruments and 30 years of singing and I do not autotune anything. It's not the gear, it's the operator and artist. So far everything you have said is 100 percent accurate and very helpful. Thanks for encouraging people to make good music. That's what it is all about.
ОтветитьI have been making music for 3 years now. I have learned how to mix, track, and learning the ropes of the trade at the ripe old age of 13. I love the way you think. Trying to have fun has been a huge struggle for me because of school. Whether it be tracking deathcore vocals or country guitar, having fun is always a crucial part of making good music.
ОтветитьWatching this on the last day of 2017. You say happy new year and I’m like, how did he know ;)
ОтветитьOne of the best videos!! Thank you again Graham!! :)

Ответитьsorry to tell you that you have annoying voice
ОтветитьYou are so fucking smart because I heard a Hip-hop Singer back home saying that the Producer are pushing them to work hard and make songs because we are lazy he said. And I believe you cause i heard it from Pros.
ОтветитьThe room sounds bad.
ОтветитьSuch an obvious things! It's a pity that to figure this things out you have to go through them.
ОтветитьReally good advice!
Although, I never realized recording/producing music was only for members of the male gender.. Or is that not what you meant continuously referring to the “guys making the best music out there?”..Maybe it’s only men making the quality music? Yeaahh, that must be it.
Try to be more inclusive, man.
2018 ...it still works :)
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьGreat video.. your right about the fun side of music... that's what it's all about.. me & 3 old school friends got together just for fun at a rehearsal room.. we ended up there every weekend for 18 months...the guy who owned the studio used to sit in & listen ...he said we were the only band that used his studio that didn't take every too seriously and had alot of fun but we were the best band he dealt with...it's all about fun fellas.😁👍
ОтветитьSteely Dan is an example of GREAT recordings.
Meanwhile, it was 3rd generation (copy of a copy) and nobody noticed for 35 years, as I heard it. So there. :)
