So this has to be said for those of you who may not be working in the healthcare field or who may not be bedside. Nursing is stressful, if we were to have every emotion that our PTs and their families were having we would be so burnt out by the end of every shift. Some of these scenarios are ridiculous, specifically the very first one. If we want to step away for a second to say hello to a fellow oncoming nurse and be joyous about her vacation/engagement and then come right back to you and continue doing point of care thats perfectly acceptable. There was no harm to the PT the mother wasn't in need of any information or assistance, you can see the nurse was charting at the time she wasn't actively providing hands on care. We get through our 12-14 hr shifts by having normal interactions with our coworkers. No you absolutely should not talk negatively about your PT or their family within ear shot, but guess what? You will have shifts where you come back to the nurses station and whisper something snarky just to blow off some steam. Stop nurse bashing, we are human. The majority of the time nurses will answer the phone like 4b. There are times where you have literally 10 different things going on at once and it is hard to take a moment and put everything else on pause to take the phone call. I don't see a problem with the first phone call if she would have ended it with, I have a few tasks that I need to tend to right now, I would love to give you a full run down of everything, may I call you back shorty?

Hi I am actually appalled I could not say enough about the special care my daughter got in the school unit the never left her side and always had an update for me next day I know this is training but in a real case a baby could be dead by the time any of these nurses for back they are amazing professionals and do not get the credit they deserve

Omg! If thats abad behaviour then you should come to Poland and make a video in the hospital where i had my preemie. Nurses would shout on us ..they were rude.. never saying hello..acting as if they r doing us a favour..refusing to let us kangaroo our babies abd many other things that left me mentally damaged. And u cant say anything to them coz u know those bithes stay with ur child when u r not there..so u r just scared for ur childs wellbeing and you keep ur mouth shut.

Nonsense. Get practical. Nobody wants the other part of story of docs and nurses. Their life reactions. They do have feelings, life, stress, and so on. They can't be same on all occasions.

“the nurses just need to realize.” excuse you, ma’am. If you’d like a status update every 15 minutes then you need to be at the hospital. these expectations are ridiculous.

The part about leaving is so stupid people want to go home to their families and their babies this video is crazy.

Please be aware that nurses do not mind if you call and ask for updates but every 30 minutes or hourly even is excessive. If I am running over to answer the phone repeatedly that means I have to stop doing the care or feeding one of the babies. No one would want their babies care to be repeatedly interrupted.

I don’t think that these parents understand how much work these nurses do and I don’t think they really appreciate them!

When you call every 30 minutes, you are taking away the care of your baby.

Ответить
@JullianaPaulino
@JullianaPaulino - 24.02.2020 10:56

"the nurses need to realize this is our life" yeah but you do know we can't give proper care to the babies (including yours) if you keep calling every 15 minutes, right? If you want to constantly know everything then stay at the hospital like a normal parent would (at least outside the US)
