Agreed. I never expected this to be a “wrestling fans” documentary. However, The executive producer said in a recent podcast that there had been enough material to fill 10 hours. Trouble is around four hours’ worth of content filmed with McMahon himself, which was rendered unusable after ge struggled with his voice during recordings. Personally I find it hard now, enlight of whats come to light, to here McMahon or have him talked about in a positive light. McMahon is just a peice of ****. Over the years in his head he has twisted facts to suit what he wants and now believes everything he’s distorted to be fact of the matter.

Imo, this doc was to introduce the Netflix audience to wrestling. Trying to grab a new audience. It would have been more fitting if it was just labeled as a WWE history doc, but it seems they named it Vince to draw more attention to it. People not into wrestling might have heard about the Vince scandal, so this would draw them in. Just my thoughts.

Episode 1 & 2 felt like it was a great start to the doc but even they had its flaws.

3, 4 & 5 for the most part was just the usual history lesson you get from WWEs own network shows.

Episode 6 was decent enough.

It seemed like Netflix was kind of pulling back like woah. What are we putting on our Netflix? This company has alot of scandals. Maybe we shouldn't allow WWE anything on Netflix. This isn't what Netflix signed up for. 🫨🫨🤦‍♀️

Great review. I honestly loved the documentary for the nostalgic factor. I feel like Vince maybe used to be a decent guy but loved the power and authority his gimmick brought him and stopped separating the two, ending up becoming the character full time.

The documentary gave you enough to piece things together but you don’t get it unless you really know Vince.

I think Vince was abused physically by his stepdad and abused sexually by his mother. This is why he’s the way he is. The on screen character was a way for him to cathartically act out his perversions and his life story. The match with Shane at Mania 17 was told play for Vince. He was playing his abusive stepdad. Shane was playing Vince as a kid. And Linda was there as Vince’s mom. Her stepping in and helping Shane win the match was Vince wishing that his mother would have stopped his stepdad from beating on him. Vince also treats women how he does because he subconsciously resented his mother for allowing him to be a victim of abuse by his stepdad and for sexually abusing him as he hinted at in the Playboy interview.

That’s what I got from this documentary but there’s no way of knowing what’s the truth because Vince doesn’t seem interested in allowing ppl in. He says we don’t know the real him but he’s also not interested in showing us the real him. The documentary should’ve been something else but it ended up being a hit piece.

I also can’t help but note the irony of Vince sr. originally wanting to give the company to Gorilla Monsoon and then Vince Jr.‘s initial retirement saw him give the company to Triple H in a way.

God bless Shane and Stephanie.

All this doc did for me was further confirm how absolutely insane Vince always has been while proving how many enablers surround him with the likes of everybody in the doc except Atlas, Hart, & Meltzer. Just imagine how many other things he’s probably gotten away with because of that. I don’t care that “he’s done so much for the business” that doesn’t justify any of the actions he’s engaged in. He is, always has been & always will be a monster.

For me the one of main goals was to separate the image of Vince from the wwe in the eyes of the casual fan before it came to Netflix. For people who haven’t watched in a long time or don’t know much the two are still intertwined and they might not know he’s gone. The doc kind of says “look at this guy and all the messed up crap he did, but he’s gone now so it’s ok to watch again”.

There's no shortage of documentaries many of which you could probably get on peacock
I think most of us wanted to hear about the newest scandal the one that ended his career
And what did we get?
20 minutes of that?

Unfortunately, you can’t do a documentary that gives someone like him an avenue to explain himself and give understanding to people on his actions. You wouldn’t let OJ explain himself on why he might’ve been tempted to kill that woman.

I have not watched. I will not watch and I will not watch his biography he is allegedly working on. My feeling is what it's been since about 2000 what we saw on tv is who he is minus the depravity to an extent, remember this guy did have Trish bark like a dog for him. From what I heard from reviews of it its like they were trying to play both masters they wanted to be honest about his vile, repulsive behavior but also wanted to create a narrative of "he's still human" and I'm sorry he''s not, he's just not a human being to me.
You got it right at the end Matt "The man is evil" enough sad man

Could not disagree more. You have to understand they can’t force people to talk. I think it was expertly done. I did not expect anything earth shattering. In regards to Vince, after he spouted lies they would immediately cut to contradictory footage. Those interviews were not a trial, they were not going to go after him.

I think the contradictions and lies were the worst. Vince denying Undertaker had a concussion at Mania 30 and chalked it up to him being upset the Streak was over. We've heard for over a decade and even in the Last Ride Documentary from Taker himself that he had a concussion, he collapsed backstage post match, etc.

The whole reason he continued Over The Edge 1999 was because the arena was dark and nobody saw it happen. WTF...

Stephanie McMahon was the sympathetic character of the whole documentary. She worked her whole life in the face of horrors backstage. The final episode shows how she was so close to her throne, but Vince had to squash her in the end. Also… Mr. McMahon wants to incest Stephanie … NOT Vince … uh huh.

I agree with ya Matt, it was kinda disappointing was definitely looking forward to more of the behind the scenes of these moments more story's about how people truely felt about certain story lines , like from how the divas felt about how he treated them back then. The Shane stuff was probably the most interesting about it and the Vince interviews just seemed weird.

I thought the doc was fine, the funny thing is that most WWE content creators wanted it to be a hit piece so they could get on their soapboxes and rail against Vince Mc being a terrible person so they can get more twitter applause and followers...corny, it was never going to be that, if you know anything about the type of business approach Netflix takes with its partnerships

They glossed over so much

Where was the Death of Mcmahon going and how did the Benoit tragedy change that

You claim to be a mom/pop small company how did you not know your biggest stars was doing steroids or that your executives was molesting kids

What really happened in Saudi with the delayed flight

I would have love to hear his thoughts about selling and having to disappear from Wwe

The rumors was he tried to buy the documentary to keep it from releasing but why if you have already shown no remorse no regrets

The whole thing could have been so much more but it felt really edited
