My opinion terrible design. Has to serviceable generator should be on the ground in line to a shaft going up directly to a paddle. Serviceable like easy removal and cheap repair that any one person can do then you have something 😮. On the top cone bearings with grease lines

As with many aircraft wing lift explanations you would get the impression from this video that the action of Bernoulli's principle is accounting for a lot of the power when the theoretical maximum contribution is about 5%. Yes folks it's really about the angle of attack! This is why aerobatic aircraft can be flown inverted. There is less efficiency of the wing when upside down so the angle of attack is required to be greater when inverted to maintain level flight but the plane does not get magically sucked down to the ground!

Nice explanation and animation. Years ago I heard about a group of people moaning about new wind turbines being installed near them (personally I think they look nice but I digress). One of the arguements they made was "they only work when the wind is at a specific speed". Obviously thats not this case demonstrated here (with the exception of VERY high or VERY low speeds - which makes sense). Is there any truth to this when it comes to older designs? If anyone knows please comment.

The shitiest way to generate electricity, not only does it destroy birds it also destroys the soil....they are too flimsy and too expensive....when they break down they are made.out of.toxic materials which cannot be recycled..the turbine has to be buried in the soil making the area toxic to everything around them.... they emit a constant low frequency noise that can affect your heart rate and impact your health

Here's some food for thought, why do they have to be wind turbines? based on info given to me by a guy who worked on wind turbines, the input shaft can be turned by hand by the average male. That means there is not a lot of force needed to turn it. So with that in mind, why do they have to be so far in the air and driven by unreliable wind. Why not take a simple 3 phase motor using gear reduction to make it so the motor can turn at say 500rpms and the output shaft of the reduction turn at say 10rpms. A small 3 phase motor will use much less power than the turbine puts out. Using that motor setup with say a ribbed belt that fits into grooves on pulley, like a timing belt, you could then control the motor to speed up or slow down and make as much or little power as needed. Also using that would allow you to put them right next to each other and even stack them like you do levels in a parking garage. You could literally put 50 of them in a one acre plot and still not be near as tall as one of the shortest towers now. I know there it the old saying you can't make electricity using electricity, but in this scenario, I don't see how it can't work.

Thank you very much for this wonderful explanation. Note, if a flywheel is used to help stabilize the frequency output, it is a simple system, simpler than electronics, feedback or a battery. Also, adding gears and a flywheel to a small turbine will greatly improve performance and reliability.

but they only produce 25-27% of the capacity they TELL you it will provide. This is proven from studying currently operating wind farms, provided by OFGEM. IE/
ADVERTISED = say 30Gw.
ACTUAL = 8Gw.
To get the 30Gw, the wind would need to blow at a perfect speed for the turbine's generator, FOR 24HRS / 365 DAYS a year. You dont "data" to know that simply does not happen.

They aren’t green when they use SF6 gas that is worse than CO2 and that’s before you have to get rid of the old ones. Thorium or molten salt reactors or geo thermal is the way to go
