ОтветитьFocus is bad
ОтветитьThanks 😊 have a great weekend 🌸
ОтветитьA little story to share with you: I bought a pair of Chinese reticulated silver bowls with glass bowls from a famous silverware seller at eBay (you know whom I am talking about). The condition was described as “very fine” in the listing, but one of the glass bowls came with two 1-inch chips on the rim, which apparently weren’t caused by the shipping. I requested a return, she accepted the request, I packed everything very carefully and shipped the package back to her, she acknowledged the receipt of the package, promised to refund next day, but suddenly changed her mind and refused to send the refund. She just relisted the same items for sale at eBay, but I have never received the refund money! Finally I had to bring the case up to the attention of my credit card issuer as a disputed transaction and also get eBay to step in to solve the problem. Now I am also considering about reporting the case to the law enforcement... Well, what I wanna say here is, it’s relatively easier to identify real antiques from modern reproductions, but it’s much harder to know a person nowadays... Best, JW
ОтветитьI SO appreciate your tips on Chinese pottery! I've avoided a bunch of those weird, scuffed up vases. I just bought a big ol'(!) blue and white vase off of Facebook marketplace for 90 bucks. Has a pretty honest bottom, and a light blue shade to the entire glaze. It might still be fake, but I wouldn't feel bad about it tricking me. At least it's not ugly! Haha
ОтветитьI am happy you pointed out AncientRhyme!! I saw them post a couple weeks ago 80 items(!) that looked really good rare forms (and I will tell you bookmarking 80 items when your bookmarks on ebay are already full is not an easy task!!). Fortunately I did my research and comparisons and saw that not only were the forms not authentic for the periods they appear to be from BUT they just didnt have that INNATE BEAUTY that Chinese pieces have. I really recognized this in one of his bronze censers with the "fish" handles, it didn't have a balanced proportion from the handles to the bowl portion which was a dead giveaway. One of the items that sold was a white jade vase & cover for $31.1k! It looked authentic but still, if they are 100% replicas someone really got shafted.
ОтветитьRugs please! I know very little about them and they arent easy to dive into knowledge on them. I would love to see you do videos on rugs as well for the channel, especially central asian/chinese/etc varieties. Rugs have fascinated me but Chinese ceramics are really my passion and thats a brain full of information to digest already. Please share your knowledge!
ОтветитьWell deserved publicity!!
