Ian, you are the first guy any of us read when we have watched the movie "Zulu"....I thank you, I have read all your books. Can you please do some books about Maori Wars 1860's in Waikato/Taranaki New Zealand?

I just read your Zulu rising book and I was really shaken by it, great work! I almost didn’t want to continue reading it as it got closer to the date of the battle as if I could close the book and stop it from happening.

Its weird to think thousands of soldiers once stood there and were killed there

Hello Ian, I would love to visit Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift, you just can't imagine to scale of the battle and how many men, British and Zulu's there were, it must have been absolutely terrifying, Lee.

We don't hide, we go straight to the enemy and let the spear do what it was created for.
Your story is not complete, tell them the true story. We defeated British, then they invited the Dutch and we defeated you again combined the the Scottish that is when you manage to conquer us. It took three countries to defeat Zulu's.
You won't write that because it embarrassing that it took 3 nations to defeat a tribe.
Not forgetting that the damage was already done by missionaries. "Dividing us"
They told us about God, our forebares not knowing that the word it just an abbreviation of what they were looking for.
They said God is coming from through clouds. And them their God was on the ground, our minerals.

I'm not expert on military tactics, but as a desperate last measure might the British not have assembled on the slope in the background with the rock protecting their backs, forcing the Zulus to come uphill at them?

In the movie Zulu Dawn, they captured two zulu warriors, was that true or was that hollywood?

This is a wonderful and informative video. Is there any truth in statements suggesting Durnford was riding out to reinforce the rear of Chelmsford’s column as he thought it might be attacked?
