Hey Capneddie-excellent course, wish I had had it when I got my first Lathe, would have saved me a lot of time in research. When your Pocketbook decides (first Lathe, usually) these Jets and their Brothers and Sisters (by Others) are the way to go for first timers starting to see if they will enjoy making Shavin's. I got the WL 1220 as my first. Thanks for your Vids, advice and good will to all turners, need more like you! Take Care and make shavin's.......All the Best, Mike
Ответитьlove ya work eddie! keep it up
ОтветитьGood info for the beginner, wish someone would of warned me about drywall screws and faceplates a couple of years ago. Or I had found your videos earlier.
ОтветитьHello Eddie. I just want to thank you for your werry good wideos. I learn a lot from them, and I always look forward to see the next one. Greetings from Denmark Bent K
ОтветитьI took my 6 inch face plate mounted a 3/4 inch thick piece of scrap hardboard with bolts and lock nuts then glued a leather round i got from Tandy smooth side out then i loaded it with Tripoli Compound Bar then put it on the lathe works great to put a good edge on my lathe tools
ОтветитьI hope I can fine a good quality lathe in my price range soon. I have a 1969 Montgomery Wards Master Craft 9 1/2 X 30 lathe that was given to me, The headstock has a 5/8" unthreaded shaft with a reverse taper, so I don't think I can put a chuck on it. It's just like new, but I can only turn a few things on it.
ОтветитьThis video has been extremely helpful!
ОтветитьCapn I love your videos I've only been turning for about a month and am hooked solid. I bought a Harbor Freight special for 200$ (which I drummed up by selling some tires on Craigslist) I truly find your videos helpful and informative. Im on a super super tight budget so I appreciate all the shop tips you throw out.
ОтветитьG'day Cpt. Eddie. Great 101 video on lathe terminology and how to get started. just a minor point of technicality, the tool rest is attached to through banjo, the banjo allows the tool rest to move along the lathe bed. Sorry to be particular, but the learners need to know the facts. Keep up with the great effort of promoting our shared passion of turning. And keep MAKING SHAVINGS!
ОтветитьI was given a Craftsman 113.23800 12 X 36 lathe. I know that it has a vibration problem. I thinking of using a 1/2 horsepower 2 speed air conditioner motor. Would the linked belts reduce the vibration?
Ответитьlinked belet help reduce vibration because they don't take a set.
Ответитьright on captain Eddy your the best, enjoy all your video and sound advise, take care Marc from Calgary, Alberta, Canada

ОтветитьCapt. I hope you are doing well. I just started turning about a year ago, and I thought I was lucky finding a Craftsman 113.228163 new in the box for $175.00 and it's ok. You said you can advise me on how to stope the vibration. It's currently mounted on a sturdy wood table that i made. BUT?
Thanks for your lessons. you remind me of my Shop Teacher.
