Mod any Mechanical Keyboard with USB-C! - Detachable Cable Mod!

I'm new to all this. If my keyboard has 2 black ground wires do I just solder them both onto the "G"? I'm assuming that 1 black wire is for the keyboard and the other 1 black wire is for the side usb ports? Its an apple keyboard I'm messing with.

It's C for common, its a term we use in electronics since its a common area to put your ground or negative in.

I EXTREMELY recommend putting hot glue or epoxy to secure it or over time you might yank the breakout board accidentally

I got a budget mechanical keyboard that is really valuable to me not in terms of price. The keyboard was from my girlfriend. I went home I went home from school (I'm in College) and just saw my keyboard's USB plug dented and flat. I tried to fix it but it fits too tightly now when being plugged to my laptop which I am afraid might break when plugging and unplugging. It's not a detachable cord so I am definitely going to try this out since the connections and soldering seems simple to me since I am studying electronics engineering. I just needed the guidance of this video for assurance lol. Trying this soon once my Type C female breakout board arrived!

did this type c conversion on my Redragon K552. It was working fine but Last night I use it on my PC my Logitech G Pro X Wired headset mic and change it to condenser Mic is not working on Valorant. Do you have a idea on what possible be the issue? Thanks

Hey I just did this and followed everything you did, when I plug this in, my keyboard lights up butttt there is an error saying there is not enough power being supplied to the port or smth like that. Can any one help?

Hello, I have followed your tuto but I got a problem ...
I've tried soldering a breakout board usb-ce, I did well I think.
The first board was a cheap one, I've tried a regular usb-c to usb A 2.0 cable, and it works, but after that I tried a swift cable coiled. And the keyboard started to act weird ...It turns on and then off, and windows says "unknown device". Any idea ?

goof tutorial but your reactions are really anoying , tone it down kids arent watching these vids anyways.

Does anyone know if it would be possible / simple to make a new PH 2.0 to usb-c internal cable instead of cutting off the original cable so this mod would be reversible? Or, even better: is it easy to find such an internal cable pre soldered and possibly ready to just plug it in there? I'm not quite good with soldering, basically. 😅

Thanks mate. With all respect, it is just the half of the job as you cannot use the keyboard in wireless mode, so your showcase is only useful if you want to replace the keyboard wire.

i bought a Rexus keyboard that came with non detachable cables. but then the Rexus team made a detachable version for their newer revision of my current keyboard. and since my cable is pretty much damaged, im going to change it to type c. its easier to replace the cable that way.

I understand converting a wired keyboard to wireless but I dnt see the logic in converting a wired to another wired. sure its detachable but its not like a phone that you have to plugin and plugout multiple times a day.

Also, can I just cut the cable between the keyboard to the PC (the long one) so the usb-c connector is on the cable (not on the keyboard)?
