Sorry, but 964 C4 got the worst drivetrain. It was the first Porsche 911 4WD and it isn’t a pleasure for driving.
ОтветитьWould be interesting to drive the C4
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьI have a similar story about my ‘86 Carrera Cabriolet purchase. I didn’t travel as far as your friend but it was enough for me to bond with it on the drive home. Good memories. Beautiful C4 BTW. Cheers!
ОтветитьI want to see the sc next. Great video and beautiful car. Good luck with the sale.
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьLove the car, passion, information, and video.
…Suggestion to the owner, please stop using the phrase “You know” as a filler. It’s giving me a headache to hear over and over.
Perfect colors: red & black. Bravo!
ОтветитьPrime example . Keep if you can only goin to worth more.
ОтветитьHad a 1991 964 C4 Targa and loved it. You could feel the front wheels giving extra grip when accelerating on an on-ramp. Drove it all year round, even in snow. In fact I once drove it to "rescue" a friend who became stranded by the snow and the C4 handled the drive with confidence. RegretI I sold it.
ОтветитьCool video...Thanks
ОтветитьGood content! I drive a C4 so I don’t loose the back end
ОтветитьLove these real world/owner interviews with these cars. Thanks Will. As a PO owner of a few 993's and G bodied cars I found a sweet deal on a 90' C4 exactly like this car a few years back. Almost all the comments made here I've thought the same. The 964 C4 is a phenomenal drivers car! I took mine out in 3-4" of snow a few years back (it had old x-ice's on) and I could not believe how much grip and fun it was! Here in the PNW it rains a lot of the year. Rain? No worries with this car! The debate of the C2 vs C4 is internet troll lore I swear. Yes the C2 feels a little lighter in the front end; however, so minimal it doesn't make sense why they are coveted somewhat more. I prefer the planted, rail the corner feel of my C4 to be honest. Someone's going to get a sweet car from a good owner like Rafa!
ОтветитьPlease, how do I reset the trip distance counter on my 1996 993?
ОтветитьStance is very important.
The car just sits right.
First rule of thumb in 964 ownership, never, ever sell it for a 993😊 Keep it Rafa. I sold mine for a 996.2 GT3CS and regretted it instantly. Luckily I was able to buy it back and still own it. The GT4RS is being sold before the C4 goes anywhere!
ОтветитьI had a C4 then swapped for a C2. No question does the C4 feel more planted BUT the C2 is way way more fun! Sorry, but it just is! Don’t read comments, drive both then make your own mind up. Having said that, both are great and you won’t be disappointed with either. As for the 993, it’s arguably better in every department but the more beautiful rear end doesn’t make up for the lacklustre front end …and the 993 is just too refined for my liking - but again try both before believing reviews. All of this is jmo of course. All Porsche are great👊🏻👍🏻👌🏻
ОтветитьLove the Red. Don't like the price. Still a sweet ride.
ОтветитьGreat video! Would love to see his SC too!
ОтветитьGreat video, congrats on the sale! C4 owner myself, and for the point you made, for track I'd prefer C2 all day long. My driving is in the NW, and as someone who likes to drive year round the C4 is the best option. A bit heavy steering, but you gotta weigh the pro's and con's, it's a life saver for me that's for sure.
ОтветитьThe C4 is BETTER than the 2. Hello!!!!!!. The all wheel drive is only about 180lbs heavier, but tracks MUCH better than the 2. So if anyone is complaining about the weight gain, think again. At that point, how fat you are, if you have a passenger, or how much gas you have in the tank play a bigger role than the weight of the car. Also your driving skills play a role. All things being equal, who is getting a 2wd vs all wheel drive car? No one. Give me a turbo with AWD, a 4S vs S, all day everyday.
ОтветитьThe 964 is the best looking air cooled.
ОтветитьStevie wonger? 🤓
ОтветитьAwesome video. Thank you.
ОтветитьI love this debate. I'll break it down from you from another 964 C4 owner as myself.
1) AWD is ALWAYS better up a canyon over a C2 all day everyday. Period. We are driving them on tracks or roads, not drag racing.
2) Who in their right mind would buy a Turbo 2WD over a AWD if money was no object. NO ONE. (S vs 4s is another example)
3) The added weight of a C4 vs C2 is negligible. What's more important is how fat you or your wife are and how much gas you have in the tank. The dry difference is only approx. 185 lbs How much you weigh, your gas, your passenger and how good of a driver you are is far more important than the factory weight difference. Hello!!
4) I once read someone saying they love the raw experience of a C2. LOL, Are you kidding me? Go buy an earlier air cooled 911 if that is what you are looking for. That logic means you wouldn't like a 1997 Turbo S cause it lacks the "raw" experience cause of the added technology.
5) The 964 C4 is the best combination of older raw tech finally meeting amazing track/handling suspension for its time. This is the car you want to take up Angeles Crest on Fridays, not a C2.
Thanks for the great video!
ОтветитьThe C4 is the easier car to drive as it doesn’t need to be driven in the classic 911 style ie; managing weight transfer via trail braking. A C2 is a more challenging, more rewarding and ultimately quicker car to drive -BUT the driver needs a decent level of skills to unlock its potential.
ОтветитьAnother 400 km. and my 1991 C4 kisses the 300.000 km. It's mine since 2011 and I drove about 83.000 km. with it.
I have never owned of have driven a C2, so I can not give any comment on that. All I can say is that I still love driving my C4.
I takes me all across Europe, and it never let me down. Maintenance ... not cheap, but the rewards are in the driving.
Do not cut corners on maintenance.
No engine rebuild so far, no gearbox rebuild. If you treat it well it will keep on going. Bullit-proof quality.
Quality tires withe N3 spec. and very precise alignment are a must, and gives you a smile on your face, every time.
it's just as good for the road, on a tight track you can feel it, no matter what you do with it or how much you mod it. The car is great and very efficient, but the fun factor gets limited by the fact it is awd, that's just the way it is. If you drive only on road, you might have just as much fun while knowing it's very safe. On track you want to be able to spin to get the car on the limit.
ОтветитьI remember a friend of mine got a beautiful 964 in 2006 or so for maybe $15k. My 964/993 hopes of ownership now depend on my winning the lottery.
ОтветитьF all the new Porsches. This and the 993 are where it’s at.
ОтветитьHow much more $$ is a 964 c2 v c4 in equal condition? And is it worth buying a c4 and converting it to a c2
ОтветитьThe 964 Carrera 4 is cooler than the Carrera 2. Why? There are plenty of RWD 911s out there but the Carrera 4 was the first with AWD!
ОтветитьI’ve owned both and the C2 is far superior to drive. C2 steering is light years better. C4 is very capable but doesn’t drive like a 911.
ОтветитьOne does not sell 964.
ОтветитьThe 964 front diff is a full sized diff and not one of the shrunk down types ala 993 or 996TT. That and the torque tube is where alot of the extra weight comes from. The tranny is not that much more heavy then the 2wd G50. Difference is the awd clutch pack, planar gears and extra trans housing section.
ОтветитьNot really unappreciated… look at values….
ОтветитьGreat car from a great guy!! 👏👏
ОтветитьIf he is unsure about what to do at this point, and if he can afford to keep
all of his cars, then the best thing to do would be to keep all of them until he is really sure
which one he is completely ok with selling ,that way he will not regret his decision with
letting one of them go.
