ILLENIUM Ft. Spiritbox - Shivering (Hard Drop Removed)

I really like this song but it contains a hard drop I don't enjoy. Editing it out proved to be quite difficult this time around. I have a few versions linked below if you're curious to see which one you like the best. I ultimately decided on this version since it was the least repetitive and didn't shorten the song too much.

I don't normally go into detail with how I edit hard drops out of melodic songs, but I figured since there are four total versions, it'd be easier to understand the differences with the explanations below.

1. Fake Buildup Ver. (First Edit)

The "Fake Buildup" version builds the hard drop but cuts right to the end of it. This leaves a weird sensation of buildup with no release/drop. It kinda ruins the flow of the song.

2. Short Ver. (Second Edit)

The "Short" version takes the hard drop buildup and drops into the second melodic drop. This sounds okay but shortens the song too much.

3. Repetitive Ver. (Third Edit)

The "Repetitive" version takes the last part of the last drop and uses it as the last part of the first drop, then fades into right after the hard drop. It works, but then you have two drops ending the exact same way, making it repetitive.

4. Melodic Ver. (Final Edit)

The "Melodic" version is the one I made last, which is the version you're listening to (on youtube). It uses a short part of the hard drop buildup and then goes into shortly after the hard drop. Just cutting it didn't sound too great so I had to add some reverb along with a cymbal crash. I tried matching it to the song's cymbals (which are very short and quiet). Overall, I think I managed pretty well.
