At the Center for Music Therapy (CFMT) in Austin, Texas on February 23, 2013 music therapist, Hope Young, MT-BC, tells for the first time in public her inspiring story of how faith, music, and healing led to the vision and founding of the first for profit music therapy center in the world. Hope Young speaks passionately about her patients and work inspiringhope in her to commit to staying dedicated as a therapist/musician in the dark and difficult situations nobody wants to have happen in order to hold the light for those going through the dark times. She along with her CFMT staff, therapist, patients and community ask for your support in order for them to continue to be there for those in need. With your help, CFMT will continue to bring the power of music fully into treating and healing the 300+ people served by the Center. The Center for Music Therapy is in a crisis caused by a "constructive eviction." In October 2012, the noise disturbance and air quality health concerns started when a bowling alley and a wood burning oven began operating in the same building as the Center. With the entrance of high noise levels and smoke fumes, the clients and CFMT staff are propelled into growing financial and health risk crisis beyond what they can sustain and manage within it's own resources.
