Choosing the correct paint finish is as important as selecting the correct product type and colour for your job.
Paint sheen refers to the lustre or brightness of the paint finish, and has both visual and functional factors.

FLAT / MATT FINISH
This finish is shine-free and fully matt. It brings a soft look to walls and helps to hide imperfections. A full matt finish should be cleaned very carefully to avoid marking the paint finish.

VELVET SHEEN
This type of product has a small amount of sheen and is excellent at hiding imperfections and providing a flawless finish. It is also easy to clean and a top quality velvet sheen product can withstand repeated washing.

SATIN FINISH
A satin finish product has a beautiful low-lustre that can appear velvety. A premium satin finish product will be extremely durable and easy to clean and is ideal for high traffic areas, skirting boards, cupboards, doors and trims.
Plascon Velvaglo is an example of a satin finish product. It is heat, steam, chip and stain resistant.

GLOSS FINISH
These paints reflect light, giving them a bright, shiny finish. They are more durable, great for both interior and exterior high traffic areas and easy to clean. High gloss paints are less effective at hiding imperfections on your substrate, however.
Plascon Super Gloss Enamel is an example of this finish.
