this would've popped so hard during the robot chicken era. maybe if social media were still a thing people cared about, this could get some boosting from the adult swim people

In the replay, or as the last hit makes the game go into slow motion,they should show transparent children controlling each fighter. Like that’s the reality, each kid pretend fighting their action figures against each other and the fantasy is the actual fight you play. Each action figure can have their own child attached to it. Like maybe a little African girl can play as someone fighting a little Asian boy playing another character. Or even a kid in a wheelchair can be tied to a fighter. That would be cool to see. Small details like that would add to the game imo.

heh, if I wanted a polished fighting game to play for sheer nostalgia, I would pick up power rangers and play Goldar or Lord Zed. But it doesn't interest me for the same reason that none of them interest me: They have so little content and very few ways to play. Fighting games like Smash & Soul Caliber are the only ones that can hold my interest because they have actual content and many ways to play. We need fighting games to do more than just one or two dudes beating up one or two other dudes with no other variety gets old very quick. Mortal Kombat Deception was so state of the art for its time, and yet it's hardly ever been replicated in its RPG mode.
Here's an idea, what if there were 3d environments the player character could run around in and then get into a fight dynamically in the environment with a seamless transition to fixed 2d movement in that area? How about some real choice in who we fight & team up with based on arcing and branching story scenarios? There's so many things you can do with a fighting game if you think beyond character select and preset stage duels as the end all-be all of a fighting game.

Rayzinger's assist appears to be based off of Spazer machines from Grendizer anime, which was set in same universe as Mazinger Z.

Technically smash bros is the action figure fighter that's why there's alot of hand themes in the game, it's supposed to symbolize kids playing with action figures

If you look at Lockjaw's box in the background it says Biker Barracudas from Bermuda. A homage to Biker Mice from Mars as well.

Just some additional tidbits: the special move used by kronan where he holds his axe with both hands while a vortex shields him and damages the enemy is Thor's special move in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom. Lastly the character you mentioned that you had no idea of reference wearing blue jacket and his hands are tucked in it is a reference to a toy line made by Quiccs x Martian Toys. These toys from what I heard is made by Filipinos. Also Oozebite can also be a reference to the Gorgonites of the Small Soldiers movie
