When one has a calf that is restricted in its mobility, it can lead to a host of lower leg problems such as achilles pain, foot pain, arch pain, toe pain, or ankle pain as well as other lower leg injuries.

The muscles of the calf and the calf region attach to the knee and the ankle/foot. So, having limited mobility through the calf can put abnormal tension in both places. This leads to less efficient running and a higher probability of injury. Foam rolling is a good way to keep the muscle tissue healthy and pliable.

Pro Tip:
Perform foam rolling 5-7 days a week for 10 minutes at a time. Think of it as “hygiene for your muscle tissue”.
