Hahaha satellite communications. So funny.
ОтветитьHell no on satellite phone. GPS is more useful. Will keep you from needing a phone. And isnt the point of camping to disconnect?
You also left out bear spray.
Never had a satellite communicator.
ОтветитьNo.. I don't have to pay subscription services.. that's trash
ОтветитьA gun
ОтветитьFacts!
ОтветитьOk pseudo-hiker
ОтветитьIs the garmin satellite thing worth the price? And how much is the subscription?
ОтветитьDo people even think about emergency roadside kits anymore?
ОтветитьI bought a first aid kit and never bring it. 😂 Also, im poor, so i dont have a satellite communicater.
ОтветитьA few suggestions, may I:
My rain jacket is a poncho - its also a tarp and my backpack rain cover-can wear backpack underneath it and i collect water in it. I like multipurpose items so there is less weight.
My knife is an Aranyik socket handle one - handle doesnt need maintenance, great for packing soil and the machete/knife is a shovel too. I torch birch tar, dry a layer first for a few days then torch - on it mixed with ashes so it becomes birch pitch and prevents rust.
My saw is always a bucksaw blade in a money belt, used as a strop.
My luxury is leather boots and a wooden handle - i use birch tar to maintain both. For wooden handles, the longer soaking and drying time is the better ! We used to soak ours and dry for months at a time prior to a slight torch/sand and redo.
For leather - 50/50 mix with leather grease - Varusteleka has both.
If i dont want maintenance for a handle - pine pitch in a deer antler is the best one.
Side note - birch pitch does not crack/break due to sudden temperature changes unlike pine pitch. Birch tar, pitch, glue are THE BEST for extreme weather conditions.
Any emergency gear is always outside of my backpack. I need to access it with one hand.
A bear bag to toss with a bit of food to save the main one and a bear noise maker/flare are outside too.
Happy travels !
What rain jacket is that?
ОтветитьCommon sense really
ОтветитьYep
ОтветитьDo you have recommendations for a head that that can quickly switch from white to red with out going through all the white settings?
Ответитьwhy does this guy kinda look and sound a bit like john krasinski? I LOVE THAT GUY also this vid is very educational
ОтветитьSafety officer Dan to the rescue 👮♂️
ОтветитьAleve back & body, Yes!
Melaleuca spray ( tea tree )travel size helps with skin irritations
What do you think k a hard shell is ? 🤦🤦🤦
ОтветитьIs the spot r genuinely worth it over the spot?
ОтветитьGreat advice
ОтветитьDepends where you are, I wouldn't say water filters are needed for every trip
ОтветитьA magnum .44
ОтветитьFollow the ten essentials.. leave the GPS thingy at home.. Believe it or not. You don't need it.
ОтветитьRespectfully, I think Gray Bearded Green Berets categories are better: He talks about needs first and goes from there.
Some things he would always include
Navigation (always to include a compass)
Signal capability
Water filtration
At least 2x ways to make a fire (preferably one that is easy such as a lighter)
First aid (always to include a tourniquet (TQ)
“Something to sleep under, something to sleep on, something to sleep in”
FINALLY An influencer suggesting an EPIRB (satellite emergency beacon). Most hikers/campers will spend more on their shoes than what an EPIRB costs. When it’s literally a life saving device it’s very cheap.
ОтветитьHello 👋 Dan, thank you for sharing the essentials for backpacking. Stay safe out there. 😊
ОтветитьNice!
ОтветитьI didn't know John Krasinski is into outdoor stuffs..
ОтветитьAmericans need special gear for walking...
ОтветитьMost important thing is a whistle, we’ve established this over 100 years of city people going into the bush. Your sat garbage can die but a whistle never needs batteries.
ОтветитьYikes $400 for a satellite communicator I’ll just stay lost.
ОтветитьA Glock 19 . And not because of bears or lions .
ОтветитьThat medical kit doesn’t need to be accessible at a moments notice. There’s nothing in there to help in an emergency. Take your time putting on your moleskin and get a real first aid kit!
ОтветитьA firearm self defense class and some kind of daily self assessment of your Body instant emergency survival skills for things that can & do happen when we least expect due to things like nature accidents with weather and other unexpected unexplainable incidents that may cost a instant loss of some or all Food essential needs & electrical technology or unexpected sneaky wild animal encounter that may cause you choose or to run for your life for your own safety into a unknown location & trip & fall down a hill sinkhole water fall etc. & fall unconscious for a period of time and not knowing if you have a self injury minutes or hours later & would be important to have knowledge of certain plants plan B survival skills to help your injury emergency food and the correct steps to increase your chances of surviving & be rescued
ОтветитьYea definitely make sure you know where your head lamp is.👍😎
ОтветитьAaron Rodgers got hurt and now does camping videos?
ОтветитьWas hopin for the loop&you delivered👑 thanks for the tips
ОтветитьGood list. Having a poop kit handy and not at the bottom of your pack is helpful too
ОтветитьHow about the ability to read a map and use a compass? Never see that one. I do not know how in the hell I and my 4 cousins did a through hike of the AT 37 years ago without a GPS. Must have been blind luck.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьLost 95% of viewers with satellite communicator. 🤣
Ответитьim a vagabond, you carry much more than i do.
ОтветитьAdd something to start a fire.
ОтветитьWhats in the first aid that youll need right then is there a tourniquet on it for a compound fracture my point is its ok to be in side ur bag a blister wont kill you, but if ur worried get yourself a R.A.T.S. tourniquet keep it in your hip pocket
ОтветитьA caveat with the satellite communicatior or PLB is consider what type of terrain you're on.
Reason being if there's a chance you can slide downhill and generally speaking get beat to f--- by the terrain there's a solid chance that anything attached to your or your rucksack is going to get shredded and / or ripped off.
Just a thought.
I got stuck at Mt. Katahdin In the middle of the night with a dead flashlight and no water filter, those are the biggest ones for me.
ОтветитьYou forgot the knife bro 😊
ОтветитьI bikepacked the 3,000 mile Tour Divide route with no first aid kit. Only carried a spot tracker because I was racing. I still do multi-day trips regularly without both items. Fear=Gear
ОтветитьWhere is pam?
