Manchester's Lost Stations: Exploring Manchester Mayfield Railway Station - abandoned disused closed

A look around the remains of Manchester Mayfield Railway Station. The station opened in 1910 and closed in 1960.

It was built by the London and North Western Railway to ease congestion on the neighbouring Manchester London Road (now Piccadilly).

The station building suffered fire damage in 2005 and the trainshed roof was removed in 2013. Despite this, the station is still relatively intact. The ground floor warehouse has now been turned into a new music venue as part of a heavy regeneration plan for this part of the city. This video has a look around what is left, and gives some of the history of the station.
