Art History was my favorite subject in college but knew I couldn’t make the living I wanted pursuing it.
ОтветитьI can’t believe this is already married.
ОтветитьI have always wondered how a painting is restored. Thank you for clarifying the process.
ОтветитьI love your videos, but your voice is so soothing it always puts me to sleep.
ОтветитьYou are so talented bravo!
ОтветитьSo what's your pet spider's name?
Ответитьwhy do they never specify the products they use???
ОтветитьWhat kind of thread or string have you found has the greatest longevity?
Ответитьhey ☺️ beautiful work!! would you tell me which kind of remover you used for this painting?
ОтветитьI wonder how much these painting restorations cost. It's not mentioned a lot in most of these types of videos. 😅
ОтветитьWonderful. I took art classes through out school. never in discussions of art work did restoration come up. So enjoyed the process. Thank you
Ответитьhe’s kinda dreamy idk
ОтветитьStunning work.
ОтветитьWow! I've only been watching/subscribed to your channel for a few months. I didn't know you were in Chicago, my home city until I came across this one. And, you DON'T have your bread! We can see your face!
ОтветитьHope this is not the video of the week… COME ON!!!
ОтветитьWonderful! Exciting to watch! Very didactic! Bravo & Thank you!
ОтветитьBeautiful painting. But the frame....looks like dead.
ОтветитьThat is absolutely beautiful. Excellent conservation.
ОтветитьGreat. I have a crush on a woman who lived 150+ years ago.
ОтветитьFascinating!
Ответитьthankyou for showing the fascinating artistry, perfection (and craftsmanship) of 'conservatorship and restoration
ОтветитьJulian- It looks like this video is making the rounds, which I want to be as positive as possible news for you. There seem to be some things that are different in this video from what we see from you today, which (on the surface) make more recent things younsay untruthful. For example, you go straight for the eyes during the cleaning when we are told on all of your videos these days that you save the eyes for last because of their significance. Also, you immediately follow the face with the signature. We all have learned from you that it is safer to save the signature for last when you know more about the painting and because thepaint.may have been thinned.
I suspect that these things were variations from your normal practices even at the time this video was made in order to keep the video short. Little did you know we have the interest and attention span to watch you work on the same piece for hours and hours over the course of a couple months! 😄
One other thing that someone has mentioned below is that the hot table treatment is different than what you do now. I could notice fairly immediately that the hot table setup is very different than it is today, so I suspect that change in practice has more to do with a change in available equipment than anything else.
I just wanted to pass on the information that these things are creating confusion so that possibly you can throw in some quick explanations to how the video process and the changing equipment overtime has changed the way you tend to work.
I.continue to enjoy everything you do, keep up the good work!
Can we use Dutch linen?
No! It must be Belgian otherwise it won't work
wow, you have to be an expert in EVERYTHING in order to do restorations! chemistry, math, color theory, history, carpentry, the list goes on and on!!!! truly remarkable work.
ОтветитьSuch a lovely, lovely painting.
ОтветитьJack Brantman? Is that the cameraman’s name? Link to his channel please?
ОтветитьBeautiful. I felt like cheering at the end.
ОтветитьGlad I could be here to help you. So far I havent seen a thing I would change
Ответитьi've been a fan of julian and the work he does for a few years now, and to see the way he grows and changes as the videos get newer, then coming back to older videos is mind boggling. There are segments in this video that i wonder if he had restored this painting now, would he do it differently? I'd never really been interested in art conservation specifically until i found this channel.
ОтветитьLove this video - so informative and satisfying! Would you be willing to give us permission to repost part of this video on our social media? (We would give you credit in the caption)
Ответитьwhy don’t they just frame these masterpieces in glassed frames so it doesn’t catch any miscoloration and dust…etc.!!?? 🤔🤔🤔🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️♥️♥️
ОтветитьxqcL
ОтветитьIt's funny that his paint was labeled "B72". Paraloid B72, or just B72, is a conservation grade dissolvable plastic. I actually use it in the preservation of fossil specimens.
Ответитьi can't help but feel weird about the use of synthetic resin to varnish the painting. i dislike when it's used in art projects because of its toxicity and it pollutes the environment. why not use natural varnish ? i mean sure it will yellow overtime but at least it's not at risk of ruining the painting. i'm not an expert about any of this but i'm worried that resin might react with the materials of the painting
ОтветитьIncredible!!
ОтветитьOther than a spider, 😂 what’s the oddest thing you’ve ever found in or on a painting?
ОтветитьBrilliant photography, the painting so-so for me
ОтветитьWith which solution exactly did you remove the old yellow brown dusty varnish??!
ОтветитьCould you write where you get your special varnish?
ОтветитьI would love to see the face of the owner when they see their painting after restoration.
ОтветитьI love the way the hand is painted. My hands end up looking like sausages.
ОтветитьThis could have been the template for all your future videos... from small acorns etc. :)
ОтветитьWould be nice to know the name of the artist, the age of the painting, and something about its history. Suppose that it has something to do with respecting the privacy of the client.
ОтветитьBeautiful. As a Newbie who has been binge watching your videos, so interesting to come upon such an early days video and see your old studio. So very glad that your videos are now longer and show so much more.
ОтветитьInteresting but you talked my ear off. My God!
ОтветитьTernyata ini di salah satu biangnya yang membuat harga lukisan menjadi fantastis.....
Pantaslah bisnis lukisan tidak pernah punah, tidak lekang pula oleh teknologi justru bagaikan peradaban itu sendiri
