Hi! Awesome review! I have a question about video: When shooting in FullHD, is there any "line skipping" from the sensor or the frame is made of full read out and then downscaling? In old DSLRs, there was some line skipping, most noticeable as "aliasing" when shooting video with straight lines, for instance.
And in 4K, what does the "oversampling" exactly do? some kind of pixel binning?

The EF lenses better with R6 MK ii than with old DLSRs. The comment about 3rd party I do not count and Canon is also opening up now to 3rd parties. My old 50mm f1.2 is perfect with R6.

Hello photographers and camera addicts. Please forgive my ignorance. I am so new to all this. What is the difference between Canon EOS R6 ii and Canon R6 Mark ii? I am looking for a good instructional book for my R6 Mark ii and can't find one. But there is book for Canon EOS R6 ii. Are there two differed cameras? or the Word "Mark" is just a whatever.....

I recently purchased this Canon R6 Mark II Full Frame Mirrorless
Also, Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon EF
And Samyang 100mm f/2.8 ED UMC Macro Lens for Canon EF
And of course, the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R

But when I attach either of these lenses using the adapter of course, nothing happens when I press the Shutter Button. Not even a sound. The camera does not take picture.
What am I doing wrong?

Why are you testing a camera that shoot over 30 fps on still images

Was Chris only using one SD card in the camera for those photos that got corrupted? I'd hope this could be prevented by using both card slots on the camera. That's the entire point of dual SD card slots, right? At least it is for the way I shoot. I know some people prefer to fill one card up and then start the next one, but I would much rather have a backup to prevent exactly the problem Chris experienced.

I want to like the R6 Mark II and R7, but there are a few things holding them back for me.
1) Closed RF lens mount. We need Tamron and Sigma lenses in every mount if for no other reason than my wallet. I know you can adapt EF and EF-S lenses (and I own the Sigma 18-35mm and 50-100mm lenses in EF-S), but that's an imperfect solution with compromised autofocus. The lack of Tamron lenses even makes me think about Sony over Panasonic. Competition is a great thing. I know Canon make some fantastic native glass in this mount, but there are not enough lenses (particularly in APS-C for the R7), and goddamn their inflated prices.
2) Lack of video assist tools. This is easily fixable in firmware if Canon wants to fix it. Why don't they care?
3) Iffy stabilization. The S5 II and S5 IIX just win here. Not that the R6 Mark II is bad at stabilization, and it's probably better than the a7 IV, but the S5 II and S5 IIX are just far more stable for video.

I don't know if, as a hobbyist, I would jump from Canon to Sony at this point. I'm not too heavily invested in Canon at this point but the thought of selling all my gear to go with Sony is a real grind. That said, if Canon opens the RF mount to 3rd party makers I will order the R6 Mk-II to replace my R7. Until then, I will continue to enjoy my R7 with it's limitations. I would like to move to full frame, but it's not urgent for me.

How does this camera do autofocusing in a wedding reception where the dj lights change all the time?

I think r6ii and s5ii is better from the a7iv only for the overheat of sony.

I'm buying the R6mk2 as toy camera meanwhile the R1 is released, i think it's a really weak and crippled camera but it will do the job

I’d be quite interested to see what happened if Canon (or any other maker) brought out a dedicated stills camera. Maybe an R5 or R6 II equivalent with all the video capabilities removed and at a more affordable price. I think it would sell like hot cakes.

I wished the Panasonic could do 4k 60p without crop....

A pretty excellent camera all around - it feels a lot like what the R6 should've been all this time rather than some kind of generational upgrade. That being said, I'll take a mulligan as great as this any day. Even though the EVF isn't HDR so the OVF sim isn't as great as it could be, and they seem afraid of full size HDMI ports...I don't have real complaints for how I'd use this camera day to day as a photographer.

Hope you dont plan on using it in a studio because this $2500 camera is not supported for tether on any editing software. Very frustrating.

A7 R4 All Day, For Everything.

This is a really good video. Good analysis. This is the camera I'm looking at getting.

Notice the design and way it holds this R6MKII looks like the one the I owned 5DMKII DSLR 15 years ago back then. After all these years, Canon never want to change it looks to Retro style like Fujifilm or Nikon Zf or Sony A7 series...

Got my R6 Mk II just a couple of weeks ago, and my main thought is, why did I wait so long???

hmm, I would think the Canon would be better for general photography over the Sony due to the Speedlite/flash system, which I have always gotten great results with DSLRs (sorry I am on here trying to decide which mirrorless option to move up to). When shooting portraits or general photography, I almost always use my Speedlite for fill.

What was this video shot for?

No mention of the Focus problem?: " sometimes when the lens is focused way off to start with it can be difficult to acquire focus at very close range"

Have my eye on it but already have the R7. The 6 mk 2 has a few slight upgrades but nothing drastic. Low light would interest me the most. I’ve read by most users it’s superior, but a night/day difference? sorry bad pun.

I do a fair amount of cropping in my wild life shots on the R7. I also get in my opinion at least good low light with my fast lenses. Biggest issue which MAY bother me is the greater noise with low light pics. But that can be mitigated in post. So aside from wishing I could have the whole line up of R models, the 5 seems overkill and the 6 is of interest. How much more benefit will I get? I have a fair stable of RF lenses already (it’s been a lucky year for me)

Canon are crazy for leaving out Clog 2, handing the hybrid market over to Sony, Nikon and Panasonic.

You discussed how it doesn’t perform great autofocus on inanimate objects. What would be a good camera for this? I shoot lots of reviews/close up woodworking content. Thanks

I have a unique situation and I'm trying to decide on a camera body. I do photogametry on film sets. Oftentimes I need to jump in and do it while they are setting up for other shots. Currently I use a 5D Mark IV which presents a few problems that I'd like to improve on.
1. Photogrammetry requires a lot of photos. Bracketed. So I want to go mirrorless and maybe digital shutter because it feels like I'm just putting so many miles on the camera in such a short amount of time.

2. An entire film crew could be standing around waiting while I'm doing the photogrammetry and a lot of times I'm doing them in low light situations. So shooting bracketed photos on a tripod can take a really long time due to the longer exposures.

3. I need as little depth of field as possible.

So to sum it all up, I need something that can shoot a large volume of photos fast in low light without opening the aperture too much.

The fact that I already have a 5D, it would be nice to stay in the canon family but it's not a must. I would love to hear any thoughts you might have. Thank you and thanks for your video!

You didn't mention the habit of this camera to just freeze up leaving one with no solution but yo pull the batteries from the camera, let it sit for a couple of minutes and then reload he batteries and turn the camera on.

When you stated that AF is similar to a7 IV it clearly shows you didnt tested this camera very well. Its ahead of Sony quite a lot and pretty much better camera im every shape or form.

Sony a7c II or rV are different story. I think you can compare this camera to those.

Canon still uses OUTDATED decades old front-lit CMOS sensors. A7sIII is superior but still has problems. By now industry should have been moving to new sensor technology such as SPAD or x1000 more sensitive graphene sensors.

What are you shooting Marks segments on? It’s very crisp and creamy
