Gosh, it's great to see how things have changed at Uepi. No internet when I was there LOL. There was no shop at Seghe either; most bulk supplies came to Uepi on the boat Liofai from Honiara. I remember seeing it come round the headland with the biggest list and I couldn't believe it didn't sink! 😂 Do you still get the local gnali nuts? And crabs? In my younger married life when I had young children like you I lived in Indonesian Borneo for four years. We had a commissary that was a touch bigger than your Seghe store. Pasta was often full of weevils so I would always make my own pasta and even bought an Italian spaghetti extruder! Of course, the flour would always have to be sifted first because of possible weevils. We could also get to local town markets by car there so, although remote, we were not as remote as Uepi. Occasional flights to Singapore were relished; we would buy and carry back to Borneo as many delicacies as we could! Mostly cheeses, cream, butter, and milk.! Dairy in Borneo was mostly the Long Life kind and my kids would love getting REAL milk for their cereal!
BTW, is Clement still at Seghe?

Jase mentioned that people are disconnected from their food. Honestly, in a modern, globalized economy it's hard for it to be any other way. Most plant based foods are commodified, we have no idea where they come from. The farm 30min away or halfway across the planet it's all the same. The situation with meats is even worse. I'm not sure that they could sell meat if people understood how slaughterhouses worked viscerally. Sadly, what's a triumph of modern logistics and economics, is a disaster for the planet.

Recipes are always appreciated.

The size of that tuna is insane! How many people will that feed? Do you manage to store fish for a few days? Feeding a family is definitely tricky! For us living on the road in the van full time with the kids it’s tricky to store a lot of stuff so we have to find shops pretty regularly. We buy a stock of dried foods, fruits and nuts and canned foods but like you say with kids, we like to eat as much fresh stuff as possible. Meat is a treat (just once a week) and we try to find local markets or more often locals selling fruit and veggies by the side of the road where possible! Definitely easier now the summer months are here! Ps. I love that filly can tell it’s a girl from the roe. You just can’t teach this stuff, life experience 💪🏽

Hi, nice video again :) Thank you.
We are just curious why when you have a resort are not having some kind of animal farm on this island? For chickens let say or rabbits or .. whatever will live there :)
This way you gonna have more types of protein sources not only fish, right?

That’s so sad to not believe in your creator. You & your amazing family didn’t come from nothing. You exist for a reason. God created this big amazing earth & all if the beauty it holds. And his son Jesus died on a cross for the sins of the world. Paying the debt we owe which is death & separation from a holy God. If we just put our trust in him & make him our Lord & Savior then we can be forgiven & have a relationship with him. And when we do die we get new bodies that are healthy, free from all of the troubles of this life. And can live in heaven for eternity. If we reject his free gift of salvation we will spend eternity in hell. At least call out to him & ask him if he would reveal himself to you. Surly can’t hurt.

Do yall raise chickens on the island? Fresh eggs and fresh chickens could help feed everyone as well. The chicken would eat a LOT of insects too!

yellow fin tuna and APPLE SAUCE ( or pears)..
I used to love apple sauce with pork but I don't eat pork no more
so if I crave pork I now use fish and its especially great with yellow fin tuna.. is the bomb.... ✨🐠🍏

im so impressed with your daughters knowledge, they say kids absorb so much and retain it by the age of 5...
as parents, you talk to them, explain things and their knowledge has leaped in to heights ive never had the opportunity to witness..
makes me think of the things I would have done differently with my kids if I only knew... and having a life like yours definitely would have been a choice I would have made.. the kids are sheltered but are sooo free...

Let us know what you find challenging when it comes to feeding yourself or your family at home!! For me... the worst thing ever is when a shipment of food is spoiled by rats... especially when we have waiting on it for months and months!!! Thanks so much for watching and being a part of our island fam!! J & K 🐟🤿🧜🏼‍♀
