Real Time Strategy (RTS) Games are back! - 2025

Zero Space is n°1 for me but Tempest Rising sure is a very strong contender. As for Battle Aces it seems like a lesser version of Starcraft 2 downed to having to play just the micro but it could be fun, I just don't like the very small maps.

I wonder where you'd consider the RTS "Beyond All Reason" in this list. It isn't released yet, but is free and fully playable. It has a Supreme Commander or Total Annihilation feel.

There will be also Stronghold Crusader Definitive edition, they've revealed it today.

Tempest Rising is the one I'm looking most forward to! But I am also interested in Immortal: Gates of Pyre and ZeroSpace👍

Was hoping to see Stormgate on this list, but just now reading up on its development, wow, that whole company is looking pretty problematic right now and not likely to get much better even if their game got a plethora of polish.

To me they are...no patience for them anymore...only play spellforce because of the hero adventure aspect

I would like to play more RTS tryp games but sadly, most of them don't have controller support which is a real shame.

#5 just cracked me up 🤣🤣on the flipside, I honestly really wish someone would recreate Star Wars Gallactic Battlegrounds. That game had all the potentials from all galaxies far far away

Will I die without seeing a mix of RTS and TPS?
Imagine a Space Marine game, but at the beginning of the level, it starts like Dawn of War 1 and we have to install the base and create the infantry to attack the Orc base!
Once everything is ready, we send our entire army to attack, but when we press a button, the camera changes to third person and the game turns into Space Marine 2 with all the blood and violence we love!
If I'm not mistaken, years ago, there was C&C Renegade which was both an RTS and an FPS!

Ugh. We said that last year. We said it the year before. And the year before. The only thing I still consistently play aside from the classics is Warno.

There’s a chance Tempest Rising can do the trick cus this demo is a banger. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
