Can i use larger stones rather than pea gravel?
ОтветитьThanks fir the brilliant tips😊
ОтветитьFingers crossed mine goes well - Llanelli 👍🏻
ОтветитьNice video but had to find one that used metric instead. No idea what feet and inches are in 2023 and its even worse that there was a random mix and match of metric and imperial units used in the same video . . .
ОтветитьWhat can you do with the garlic leaves
Ответитьtried growing from cloves, now I have loads of garlic seedlings. How should I look after them?
ОтветитьFirst time planting . We will plant last week of March as we have just planted potatoes for the first time in containers . We have followed both your vids to do this . We live in Vancouver British Columbia Canada. Thanks for your excellent guidance . Blessings
ОтветитьGreat stuff mate well done 👏
ОтветитьThank you mate...
ОтветитьSpring, but I live in Southwestern Louisiana so, I don't have consistent cold or heat in fall through spring.
ОтветитьIn south East Asia people cooked with lots of green garlic instead of green onion it taste super delicious but in US it is impossible to buy garlic green unless you plant it yourself . Even in all the U-tube have mention of people using green garlic only waiting for the leaves to turn yellow to harvest the garlic. In South East Asia market you can easily find green garlic it taste a lot more delicious than green onion the white part I’d rounder and bigger than green onion .
ОтветитьWhere do I get elephant garlic
ОтветитьSoak the cloves upright in water for a week and they will shoot green upwards and roots and get a head start when sown.
ОтветитьHi. How many cloves to be planted in the 30 litre tub method? I have 10 tubs and I’m thinking of doing 5 garlic and 5 onion maybe. Thanks for your information 🙏
ОтветитьIts my third time trying to plant garlic. I dont know what im doing wrong😭 Here in Curacao we have sun 24hour a day 30-31degrees
Ответить💯💜🌱💦🌿🧄🧄🌿🌻😍
ОтветитьThanks for video Tony. I have never been able to grow garlic for some reason, probably something I’m doing or not😂 but now I’ve watched this I have a better idea of what I have done wrong, planting at wrong time for one or overwatering. I’ll give it another go this year and I’ll plant in October and see how it goes. Thanks again for info. 🏴
ОтветитьGreat post. Greetings from Pontypridd.
ОтветитьCan I trick my garlic into thinking it's wintered?
ОтветитьIn the fall. Because November was so hot it sprouted early the leafs I mean is that a problem!!
ОтветитьThanks for sharing the wonderful information about growing garlic. 🙏🏼
ОтветитьHi Tony, love your inspirational channel. My first time at growing garlic. Should I fertilise my garlic during the growing season? If so what fertiliser should I use. Claire Bristol UK x
ОтветитьIn Australia St Patricks day is the usual time but I have found a week or two earlier is better.
ОтветитьGrowing in pots..... How deep do you need to grow? With compost..new...do I need to add anything?
The only information I understood and have written in my new gardening book iv e started today.... The info I got was water every other week until it gets got and then once a week, plant in sunny open area, plant 6inches apart and harvest when the leaves are yellow.
Is there anything else I should have got and didnt??? Sorry this is where the autism causes issues.
Hello. Thank you for this video (and all your others). I have started trying to grow garlic in small terracotta planters (bottom later of gravely sand with drainage holes) outside in the south of the UK. If it's raining (as it is at the moment), can it end up getting too wet? Should I put it in the greenhouse? Thanks
ОтветитьTo plant your bulbs in spring time , just put your garlic seed bulbs that you have drying through the winter into the fridge about a month or month and a half before planting outside in the early spring , they will still bulb up for a nice harvest in the fall
ОтветитьI'm in Calgary, Alberta Canada - can I plant outside now or should I start inside and transplant outside in the Spring? It gets mighty cold here at times. Or should I plant inside in pots and just move the pots outside? If so, how big a pot will I need per garlic?
Ответитьthis was no help i showed my sister this video and she is a 30 year grower and she grows it in the winter
and it comes out much better then the ways your ones come out so i done your verson and it idid not work
Hey Tony, Merry Christmas! I am curious what you would suggest for a tropical area that has no cold period? How will I get the garlic to split into cloves?
For my location, planting time is going to be less important than managing the cold spell. I am planning on putting out enough to cover each month's use in the home on a monthly schedule. We may increase to selling amounts as well, but that would depend on how viable this is.
I run a tropical ornamentals nursery & we are currently working on converting part to different vegetable & fruit production areas. I'll be keenly interested in producing onions, garlic, leeks & so on in addition to other basic vegetables & some exotics from this area here in Colombia as well as Ecuador, Peru, & Brazil.
My thoughts on the question are possibly having planted beds that are able to be mobile & moved to a refrigerated area for a couple months. If they only need to be planted, but not growing yet during this cold spell, that could be a workable solution. My whole system is aquaponics, so planning this out ahead of time is very important to balance the system.
Tony? I've seen videos about forcing daffodils for a Christmas show, by putting them in the Fridge to trick then into thinking winter has passed, can you do this with garlic?
ОтветитьTony, my garlic this year ended up with all the cloves having brown patches on all the cloves. The bulbs when I squeezed them seemed separated from the cloves before I peeled them. That’s when I found the browning cloves. Any thoughts??
ОтветитьI planted my 1st garlic on Oct 20th 2021. I've watched about 10 video's
Ответитьawesome vid, i,ll be plating in my greenhouse from shop bought & putting into a deep tomato bag in a tomato bag tray over the next week. . if this works i might become the garlic guy of chorley as i,m cheesed off with failing veg due to crazy weather.
Ответитьand a great video
Ответитьgrowing mind now 14 oct hope i gets some next year first time for me
ОтветитьWhere the heck do I buy the bulbs? Is the grocery store okay?
ОтветитьSuper
ОтветитьHi Tony, Just found your channel and subscribed. I'm growing garlic in pots this year (first time for me). Is the watering method the same for pots as well as in the ground? Thank you for your advise you made it sound so easy!!
Ответитьvery informative,i have never grown garlic so this year i will give it a try
ОтветитьI planted in the fall and harvested July - small bulbs and I reviewed all growing tips... man all that work and what a big disappointment!
ОтветитьFrom where I can buy elephant garlic from
ОтветитьI harvested my garlic today - what would you recommend as a following crop?
I am tempted to put leeks or carrot, or beetroot?
You didn't talk about harvesting the Scapes.
Do you use them?
I planted mine here in Southern NSW, Australia 🇦🇺 just over a week ago.
ОтветитьSo much love 💘 in planting. Thank you
ОтветитьI live in south central Texas and it rarely stays cold enough to satisfy the temperature requirement for garlic, but I do have 'trick'. I put the whole heads of garlic in a brown paper bag and store them in the fridge for a month. I've only done this for Spring planting but it does work. The winters where I live are too wet for onions and garlic to stay in the ground.
Ответитьpretty complete - excellent thank you... I plant my garden in Spring thank you again
