god of war Ghost of sparta such a awesome game
ОтветитьI really like your videos
Ответитьthey got out of deaths domain by falling from the temple, after all, both hades and olympus are also just on earth
ОтветитьKeep the videos my man
ОтветитьI also love the story to ghost of Sparta it’s really sad and depressing
ОтветитьThe prequels, it's sad to see GOW fans talk about the trilogy but forgot about these becuase of the psp, they didn't get so lucky like ascension's team was with the console
ОтветитьWait WTF where's your rating
ОтветитьHey dude in boss section you tell its came out in 2008 but it's actually came out in 2010 dude
ОтветитьI love the video, it was a great work. And i just wanted to say that I always consider this game as the second best of the greek saga, but that was mostly because it was my first god of war. Now I realize about the flaws of the game thanks to your video. I'm still loving it, but i play it with a different view
ОтветитьYou do not need to grind or do ten full playthroughs. all you need to do is beat the game once to unlock new game plus, wear the legionnaire costume which is included by default in the origins collection, combine that with the kings rings collectible if you found it during you first playthrough, and you should get 20x more red orbs than you would normally. doing this it only took me one playthrough to reach the more than enough red orbs to complete the temple of zues.
ОтветитьTbh ghost of sparta is my second favorite of the original saga and the last battle with thanatos is epic with kratos teaming up with deimos with some pretty epic Qte’s
ОтветитьThey missed the opportunity to add a Midas Touch power
ОтветитьBig and unknown tip theras bane doesn't actually increase damage for the blade but actually lower them per slash
The only effect it gives is fire bombs and aoe damage on certain moves
The blades themselves do more damage per slash vs slashes with theras bane
This can easily be tested with big enemies by performing non aoe moves with normal slashes vs theras bane slashes without applying the fire bombs

Saudações do Brasil.
The only GOW game i ever beat
Ответитьwhat are you talking about, the Eye of Atlantis gives you invincible frame not leaving you vulnerable
ОтветитьI fuggin love this game. I really enjoyed enflaming the chains with fire. I play it on ps3 in 3D on the big screen and it's WILD!
ОтветитьImma say this one time
Developers dont start at the first cutscene and go in a story timeline when developing things. Its NOT CORRECT TO SAY ....they ran out of creativity for a late game part. I like your GOW content
There is an item that amplifies your Blood Orb gain by x10 and it can be activated on your 2nd playthrough. I unlocked everything after that. Please actually play the game your reviewing.
ОтветитьGreat retrospective, been following your GoW videos lately as I'm preparing for Ragnarok. The only thing I would add is that it is important to take in account the device for which this game was designed. PSPs are supposed to provide you with some quick fun or some quick travel distraction, hence the amount of content once the game is beaten is an extreme well thought part of the package. And as mentioned in other commentary, getting everything can be done with just a second beat to the game with the correct accessories. I know, I just beat the game yesterday.
ОтветитьI feel like the plothole of Zeus letting Kratos be the God of War could be answered by his betrayal in GOW2, like maybe he was testing Kratos' loyalty or ability to be a god.
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure the golden fleece isn't in this game. I don't see it on Kratos at any point, plus this game takes place between 1 and 2, so he wouldn't even have it yet.
ОтветитьMake god of war reboot video too
ОтветитьSolid game
ОтветитьWth this deserves atleast 200k views, you dud an amazing job of explaining the game
ОтветитьWait how can Kratos have Fleece if this game is set before God Of War 2?
ОтветитьThanatos is the actual god of death, like he is the guy that comes to get you when you die. Hades just rules the underworld.
ОтветитьI could never get into the older GoW games I used to think they were my style over substance. I'm considering playing them though.
Ответитьcompletely agree. the dive into this brotherly redemption arc had alot of good ways to captivate the players but werent completely enough to make you care. also it makes me think why the direction of acension went with the furies. i feel a dive into pre ares kratos and his family could have been a better story.
ОтветитьThis game is such a huge step up from Chains of Olympus. I don’t understand how anyone could see this as anything but a big improvement in gameplay variety, graphics, story, music, and boss fights.
ОтветитьAres took his powers away when he removed his blades during their battle that’s why he has no magic when your using the blade of the gods . So Kratos has to regain his powers
ОтветитьImagine if ghost of Sparta was the first portable game and they made ascension for ps vita instead of ps3 and it looked as good as it did on ps3 but on ps vita instead that would have won the fans all the way
ОтветитьMm there are things in your retrospective that don't quite convince me but it's still very good.
ОтветитьI think the prequal games add a lot to kratos (i didnt play accension tho)
These games add much needed depth to kratos even tho they may have plot holes
Sure god of war 1 goes to show how deep kratos is but god of war 2 and 3 are both basicly kratos going to kill gods and thats not a bad thing and i love these games i think the prequals were needed
I haven’t finished this video but just from the beginning I’m really surprised by how much he’s ragging on the story, I actually think it’s one of the best in the series and really ties the rest of the trilogy together, without this game god of war 2 hardly makes sense. Chains of Olympus on the other hand was nice but extra and unnecessary
ОтветитьI like most of your videos but you summary of the story was not well thought out, if you spent more time thinking about it I’m sure you could answer half of your own questions.
ОтветитьWith all due respect, some of your points just don't sit well with me. Like 'Thera's bane has a meter and you have to wait till it recharges' is the game's mechanic, not a downside. The fact that it automatically recharges is a plus point.
ОтветитьI don't know if anyone told you but Hades is the ruler of the underworld (Hades) and Thanatos is the embodiment of death, and it's his job to fetch souls and make sure none escape.
Ответитьthe game is perfect, you just don't get it.
ОтветитьI got Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus on PS3. Both are perfect additions to the rest of the games. The main trilogy, Ascension and these 2 were perfect for me.
ОтветитьYour not playing the same game im playing
ОтветитьYoure looking for story in a gow game ? First time huh
ОтветитьI've been marathoning the GoW series and watching your retrospectives for each one and I'm loving it, and while I agree with the broad strokes, there are a lot of points you bring up that either don't make sense to me/that I don't really see as a big issue or that are just flat out wrong.
Starting from the minor stuff to bigger plot points -
Kratos isn't really shown as someone who researches or plans a lot, he lives very much in the moment so it'd be extremely odd to have the opening of this game be him in reading glasses walking around in a library going over books to look up his family history...also why would the olympians keep his family history in a book somewhere to begin with? A lot of greek myths are fueled by prophecies, dreams, visions and illusions. This is no different and is pretty par for the course for a greek myth story.
Kratos doesn't have the golden fleece here, he gets it in GoW II. In GoW I he's able to parry just with his blades.
No other god blames him for his brother's death, they just tell him to move the fuck on. And of course Kratos has misplaced guilt about it, he's a Spartan. It (at least in the game's universe), is the peak of hyper-masculine mad warrior archetype, of course he thinks that as a kid he should've been able to protect his brother. Also, he could only see the silhouettes of Ares and Athena, he clearly didn't know who they were before talking to Athena's statue. Also - nobody cares about Kratos to begin with, why would they try to placate his guilt or make him feel better? They just don't want him interfering with their business - or at best, help their business no questions asked. They don't give a shit about what he thinks or how he feels.
Also no, if Deimos died there, it doesn't necessarily mean Kratos could take a quick dip into Hades and pick him up - otherwise he would've done this for his family long ago. Despite the repeated trope of him escaping from the underworld, he only ever escapes because his physical body is still there for him. In GoW I, it's Zeus who saves him before he can reach the underworld completely, in GoW II it's Gaia, and in GoW III he doesn't really die (another mistake you made in that retrospective - it's never implied that he dies, he just directly falls into Hades' domain - which could very well be intentional by Hades himself in order to separate Kratos from the overall war and take him out himself). If you die, you likely become a shade like the ones in Elysium, or go to Asphodel or Tartarus if you don't deserve Elysium itself.
Also, Deimos is probably that powerful and has those gauntlets because he was taken by Ares (and it's implied he's also the son of Zeus). It was said that whoever the 'marked' human is controlled by will have the power to destroy olympus, which is why they were looking for those humans anyway - not to kill them but to bring them under their control. Ares probably trained him, gave him those gauntlets and tested him to see if he really was the marked human, and once Kratos came into the scene and it became obvious that Deimos was not the one in the prophecy, Ares probably tossed him aside. I doubt he would've even known that the two were brothers.
Zeus says "There's only one left" because Kratos is the only remaining "marked" mortal who the prophecy could be referring to. Deimos is dead, and Callisto too (in case that caused any loose ends). It's been said that after Kratos opened Pandora's box, fear took over Zeus and so he clearly was trying to dissuade Kratos from going on this path. Seeing him so steadfast in wanting to defy the gods probably made him that much surer that Kratos needs to die too, hence inciting the scheme Zeus pulls off in the beginning of GoW II. That's clearly what's being referred to in that post credits scene.
A lot of your other nitpicks kinda feel like cinemasins level stuff which I don't particularly wanna engage with, but overall I do agree that at least the Greek Mythology era of the GOW games really glosses over a lot of details and does not really care about the 'how' or even the 'why' of a lot of aspects in the story, and mostly just engages in the most superficial of plot points, but I still don't think that it's THAT inconsistent and calling every single detail that the game just chooses not to delve into as a plot inconsistency. Sometimes it's just something not really worth
Anyway, regardless, love your retrospectives, just thought i'd throw out some of my own thoughts into the ether.
Ghost of Sparta is awesome and WAY better than God of Bore (2018).
