Niger has become the first Sahel country in the three-state Alliance of Sahel States to approve the availability of Elon Musk's Starlink satellite-based high speed internet connection within its territory, as Brigadier General Abdourahmane Tchiani's administration seeks to not only adapt his country to world trends and technology, but also facilitate a provision of efficient services to his people.

The news for the approval of the availability of Starlink in Niger was made on the Tuesday of October 29th 2024, following the signing by the state of Niger and Starlink, agreements that gave the greenlight for Starlink to operate in the Sahel country, as the two parties seek to work together to revitalize public administration and provision of efficient services by increasing the mobile penetration rate.

Presiding over the ceremony on the Niger side was Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine, who also doubles as the Minister of Economy and Finance, and the ceremony was also held in the presence of some members of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland, with some being those who constitute General Tchiani's cabinet, and they were all delighted with the agreement which they termed as one that will greatly revolutionize the sector.

And the same positive feeling was shared by the representative of Starlink, who expressed his satisfaction for the installation of the American billionaire's company in Niger.
