Donald Trump will return to the White House after claiming victory in one of the most bitterly contested presidential elections in the history of the United States.
Trump surpassed the necessary 270 electoral college votes on Wednesday morning to defeat Kamala Harris, his Democratic rival, and deny the country its first female president.
His path back to the Oval Office became clear after a win in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania before Wisconsin sealed the deal. Three of the seven swing states — Michigan, Nevada and Arizona — have not yet been called but are leaning Republican. If Trump is confirmed the winner, he will have swept all seven battleground states.
