He's full of it..😆😆😆 there's not a lot of problems with Aqua Regia. The only "perceived" problem is that it takes Nitric Acid and Nitric Acid is expensive.. that's the only "problem"

I usually follow the original formula by covering my gold with HCL, and then slowly add Bleach until all gold is dissolved into solution, add 100ml of distilled water and then add Sodium MetaBisulfite to precipitate the gold.

It was neat to see an alternate way to get things done.

I'm laughing at all the people upset at not revealing how much money you managed to make, if any, from the process of gathering the silver back after seeing all the tools and materials you have used for it. The lab to do all the work couldn't have been cheap and worth for just anyone to "start making easy money". And all that time spent too (although some of it can run passively).

If I were to make bromine, I think I'd use an ice bath on the receiving flask to minimize the amount of vapour. You commented on the warmth of the flask in which you reacted the gold and bromine... the stirrer itself generates more than a bit of heat.

I wonder if it would be possible to reduce the AuBr3 electrochemically, perhaps with Cu in the other half of the cell as its anode. Maybe a bit of ammonium in the Cu-side solution to encourage the oxidation from Cu to Cu(II). It would be slower than reducing directly with SO_2 but you would probably get some nice gold crystals out of it. Au|HAuBr4||Cu(II)(NH3)4|Cu .

This was a long time ago so I don't know if you still have such a large quantity of gold, also I know your taking on a lot of other projects at the moment but it could be a cool video idea to try to cast a gold boat, might be easier than you'd think given the softness of the material, if you can get thin plates you could probable deform the gold onto a boat die rather than cast it. That would be a great engineering / fabrication challenge
