I was never excited for the Mi4, but I had no idea it was this problematic. My main problem has always been MIUI. No Google services/apps is basically saying this isn't an "Android" phone, and no app drawer makes it look so much more like iOS than Android (the icons contribute to the iOS-look too).

Software and hardware is obviously inspired by Apple, so now it's clear why many people call Xiaomi the "Apple of China".

Only the Chinese model of mi4 has no google services

This is the first time I've ever heard about Xiami.

the miui is just the same as ios 7 such a copycat as chinese manufacturers cannot simply think of a design or come up with any idea of how to make something different from others........ so disappointed!

Hi, thanks for the review. I have MI2S for a year and i experienced same issue in touch, in my device it happens lots of time and thats annoying.
I want to buy MI4 but i didn't know this problem is also in new device...so maybe i reconsider what device to buy...

Even though this was a great review, it's hard to take the closing statements seriously when 3 inferior phones (relatively speaking) are recommended over the Mi4.

I've personally played with the S5, M8, and G3 and found them to be worse than the Mi2, let alone the Mi4.

I have questions about network compatibility. Telecom vs Unicom China. Which will work outside of China?
Also a question pertaining to 4G. When is 4G a big benefit? Does it make any difference with average phone use, and internet use?

My Mi3 never freezes and with MiUI. I personally thinks MiUI is great since it comes rooted without a lot of crappy commercial applications. I don't think this is common, maybe this phone had som problems.

Bro, you can't believe how relieved I am to see your review.
Till now, I've been searching for reviews on this phone and the mi 3, and I've been so unfortunate to have Indian fools do the review. You can't imagine the pain I had while watching them unbox the phone.
They keep telling us each and every single unnecessary step;

"I am pulling the sticky tape now"
"I'm going to pull over the cover"
"My nails aren't too long to peel the sticker"
"In going to use a 'cutter' to remove the tape"
"As you can see it's much easier to remove the tape with the cutter"

Oh god!! And then they try to make jokes about the "made in China" tag....

Around 4 mins, you mention that the phone lags. I'm guessing this is a software issue. Have you checked out MIUI 6 and noticed an improvement? Please respond as soon as possible, because I'm looking for a new phone, but I'm tried of lags and crashes. : P

Using this for 2 and half months now and I'm totally satisfied with this device. MIUI 6 brings better stabilty to the phone. I havent tried out miui 5 but reviews says miui 6 handles ram usage better than miui5. I'm still looking for ways to improve low light imaging, apart from that , this is a beast of a device.
