Amir Marvasti completed his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and received his
ophthalmology training at the University of California, San Diego, Shiley Eye Institute where he was chief
resident. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
“Being an ophthalmologist is not a job, it’s a calling. I truly enjoy taking the time to understand my patients’ visual needs, use my training, skills, and our cutting-edge technology to enhance their quality of life, and
cherish the trust that I’m given in the process.”
With a passion for volunteering, teaching, and clinical research, Dr. Marvasti has been involved in numerous mission trips and volunteers locally to offer free vision screening with the UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic. His love of teaching garnered him the Shiley Eye Institute Resident Teaching Award and he has received a number of research awards in various fields. Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Marvasti is happy to return to sunny Orange County and join the Coastal Vision team. He is fluent in both Farsi and English, enjoys playing the piano, traveling, playing basketball and water sports, trying new local restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
