Brilliant list. Must've been hard to narrow down. I tried Wizball with high hopes, but the controls are so annoying that it takes the fun away 😵💫.
ОтветитьYour list of 30 completely sucks. No Jumpman, no M.U.L.E., no Ultima III, no Space Taxi ?
But rather really bad games like Great Giana Sisters, Platoon, or Airborne Ranger ? Gimme a break.
There are so many good games, its almost impossible to make a list.
Pitstop II, Ultimate Wizard, Dark Castle, Pitfall II would all be on my list.
The Last Ninja 1 is way superior than the second one
ОтветитьPirates is clearly the best, but no gunship? tragic. also, these lists never include the dnd goldbox games, which were awesome
ОтветитьMANIAC MANSION and DUNGEONS OF DAGGORETH
ОтветитьArchon is just magical.
ОтветитьKarate Champ was the best 2 joystick arcade game ever.
ОтветитьWhere is GI Joe or Ghostbusters?
ОтветитьNo Creatures or Creatures 2? These were a technical marvel when they were released on the C64 all those years ago. They looked absolutely amazing and it involved torture with chainsaws and gallons of blood.
ОтветитьGold box D&D? Ultima? Temple of apshai?
ОтветитьMy favs were:
1. American Cross Road Race
2. Paperboy
3. Wonderboy
4. Ghost'n'Goblins
5. Microprose Soccer
Blue Max, Bruce Lee, M.U.L.E, and ghostbusters saw alot of time on my C64. Lots of fun!
ОтветитьLast Ninja was fascinating back in the days
ОтветитьThanks for this well curated selection.
ОтветитьMy first Commodore 64 game was International Karate. That game was a turning point for me. From then on, there was no stopping. :D
ОтветитьWizball's sound pallet sounds just like Paradroid. That game blew my mind on C64.
ОтветитьI thought that Ikari Warriors and Spyhunter translated really well to C64 from the arcade. I blew £16 in 1982 on Spyhunter at a campsite. Loved it.
ОтветитьHey dude, add timestamps please.
ОтветитьDefender of the Crown has to make any top game list on the ol breadbox
ОтветитьGreat games, lots of memories, thanks for the video.
ОтветитьProject Firestart...not forget
ОтветитьIf I choose just one game, it would be Hero, and it's not even on your list.
ОтветитьProject: Space Station was a no-show on your list. Shame, shame... :)
ОтветитьWhere is Mayhem in Monsterland?
Ответитьzaxxon, beach head, urridium, arabian nights, yie arr kung fu, bruce lee, raind on bungeling bay,
ОтветитьParadroid.
Parallax.
Who Dares Wins.

Revenge of the Mutant Camels.
Head Over Heels.
Attic Attack.
Rollerball.
Raid Over Moscow.
Zombies Ate My Neighbours.
Jet Set Willy.
Manic Miner.
Uridium.
Spy Hunter.
Bruce Lee.
Blue Max.
Way of the Exploding Fist.
Dude i gotta wonder if you truly actually made an effort to play the C64 games back in the Day, how are none of these on your list. Madness??????
IMHO Ulitma IV belongs on that list. I had gotten my hands on the Mario hack of Giana Sisters and probably played that for a couple hundred hours easily.
ОтветитьMyth
ОтветитьLoved Airborne Ranger! That and Bruce Lee, Battle Through Time, Last Ninja, etc! 👍🏾😃
ОтветитьI hab both C64 and Atari 800XL . There are a lot of Games who the Gameplay,Graphics or Music was better on Atari 800XL. Like Archon 1+2, Miner 2049, Bounty Bobs strikes back, Summer Games, Track & Field, Beach Head 1+2, Kickstart 1+2, Blue Max, Choplifter, Fort Apocalypso, Pitstop 1+2,
ОтветитьBro missed one of the best of all time...Samantha Fox Strip Poker 😂
ОтветитьIn the States, 'Barbarian' was called 'Death Sword.' I always thought 'Barbarian' was such a generic name for such a great game. To be fair, 'Death Sword' is pretty terrible too haha
ОтветитьSubjective list. Some classics in there, a lot missing: Encounter, Drop Zone, Beyond the Forbidden Forrest, Paradroid, Ballblazer, and probably the best of all - The Sentinel
ОтветитьThe Atari 800XL was a far superior machine to the C64 technically, but suffered so badly in number of software titles.
ОтветитьRob Hubbard soundtracks were the best thing about the C64. The SID chip.
ОтветитьSid Meier's Pirates! in my opinion is the best C64 game ever.
But Airborne Ranger, though challenging, was also a bit tedious at times.
Gunship was the best simulator, only slightly topped by Project Stealth Fighter.
And Silent Service was great too. After watching a submarine scene in the tv mini-series 'War and Remembrance (1988-1989),' I learned a new tactic and decided to try it out in the game. It worked!
Whenever the enemy escorts' depth charges are getting too close for comfort, try going to periscope depth (without extending the periscope of course).
If you're lucky, the enemy's charges will keep detonating at your previous depth and your chances of escaping are greatly improved.
Yes, I was a big Microprose fan as you can tell.
The games I mentioned, we all bought legally.
We got hundreds of other games for free from German crackers via an informal network of C64 users all over Germany and The Netherlands.
The boulderdashes were great puzzle games...
ОтветитьPlatoon was great....had different game views on each level. I remember a level in the dark where u had to shoot flares to see the enemy. I cant recall if I ever beat it or not.
ОтветитьAm surprised Defender of the Crown wasnt listed.
ОтветитьDrop Zone, Falcon Patrol II, Drelbs, David's Midnight Magic Pinball, Miss Pacman, Moon Patrol, Paper Boy, Pitstop 2, Donkey Kong, Rambo, Delta, Parralax, Uridium, Who Dares Wins 2, WIZBALL, Kickstart 2, Ghostbusters, Microprose Soccer, Ghost n Goblins, Comic Bakery, Beach Head, Defender of the Crown, Montezuma's Revenge, Skate Rock, Airborne Ranger, California Games, Out-Run, Buggy Boy, Salamander, Blue Max, Matrix (Gridrunner 2), Challenger, Zaxxon, Spy vs Spy, BC Quest for Tires, Leaderboard Executive (Golf), Missile Command, Galaxions, Attack of the Mutant Camels, Centipede, Lazy Jones, Bat Attack, Spy Hunter, Save New York, Battle Through Time, Raid over Moscow, Racing Destruction Set, Sanxion, Green Beret, Leaderboard Golf, 1942, Ping Pong (3D Color), Nemesis, Super Cycle, Barbarian 2, Eliminator, Crackout, Cybernoid, Pac Mania, Gryzor, R-Type, Katakis, Arkanoid 2, Pole Position 2, Myth History in the Making, FireTrap and so many more!
Ответить“Law of the West” “Seven Cities of Gold”
ОтветитьGlad to see Last Ninja was on the list, my Brother spent weeks trying to complete it when we were about 8 I think and he eventually done it too! My personal faves were Flimbos quest and Fantasy Land Dizzy
ОтветитьPretty good choices here it must be said. 👍
ОтветитьThese are nice choices. Games I recall that I liked: Infiltrator series, Spy vs Spy, Destroyer, Blue Max, Raid over Moscow off the top of my head. And, of course: the second instalment of Mission Impossible was also awesome.
ОтветитьI can easly see why everything starts with Nintendo. Before Nintendo is not good enough
ОтветитьAirborn Ranger another one of my favorites. Strategy is needed to get further into this game. Finish to the end twice, love this game.
Ответитьwhere is cybernoid ?
ОтветитьTHE BARDS TALE <3 <3
