Tough ask to drive infantry over open ground. They die too easy. Thanks for the game folks!

It's really great to see a mostly infantry battle. Battles like this with few armored vehicles were much more common than the usually FOW game where both sides are almost all tanks. I wish Phil had adjusted V4 to make it more infantry friendly but that's not how one sells tank models. There needs to be some game mechanic that infantry can use to avoid having to reroll saves under repeat bombardments, for example an additional level of being dug in; and another game mechanic to allow ordinary infantry to affect heavy tanks in assault combat, for example a 1 point card that gives an assaulting infantry unit AT3 in assault until the end of the turn (anything to remove the invulnerability of heavy tanks vs. infantry). I believe fixing these two problems would make infantry lists viable for tournaments again, but again, that is not how one sells tank models...

Like the historical context. A few scenarios come to mind…perhaps in this low ammo, off table artillery, smoke and far more German infantry with possible boats etc. alas was over before it started

Good game! A tough ask for the Germans even given the tactical observations. As I'm sure you know the Flak 8.8 and the Stuka were good answers for the KV-1... maybe a bit heavier artillery support would be in order as well. Tough tradeoffs for sure! Without heavy AT, artillery or air power that well-planned defense would be tough to crack.

What a great game, bloody tough going for those Germans but I feel like this is only just the beginning of their struggle. Can't wait for more 👍

It was too difficult to take the bridge for the Germans without heavy artillery (10.5)or a pioneer platoon with flame-thrower. Dug in infantry and gone to ground is very strong.

Nice game. I remember playing this mission as the attacker. Felt I was making progress and then more and more defending reinforcement started flooding in. 😭

Sweet, FoW? I found you via the WHFB vid. But this is interesting. I played 2nd Ed but got out 2011 or so.. I had fun before that however.

Change the rule..so all 75s can fire bombardments. Don’t be bound by prescriptive rules methinks
