Haskell House

Austin Parks & Recreation invites you to travel back in time to discover Clarksville, a Texas Freedom Colony settled by the first wave of free African Americans following Emancipation. The Hezikiah Haskell House, one of the neighborhood’s few remaining homes from that era, is central to the story. Join us for the screening of Haskell House and the Story of Clarksville, which, through the reflections of descendants and current residents, recounts the lives of those who came before us and built a thriving, independent neighborhood.
