In my opinion Gang Starr and A Tribe called Quest were the finest bands ever to come from the music of HipHop... and it took guts to say that because just look at the many acts or groups that have graced HipHop Music... The best groups and coming from the best period of time within HipHop Music - 1988 to 1996 - THe Golden period....

I hate it when people say this group or that group was the best in hip-hop because every time you say one group you have to re-consider when you're reminded of another group with a different style that's just as good or better.

I'm definitely seeing this...

this movie was beyond satisfying. I grew up listening to ATCQ and their music holds up tremendously. They were, and still are, extremely creative and likeable artists.

@hugojunior93 - I thought I would get some reaction to the comment I made in regards to A Tribe called Quest and Gang Starr. I just think that took HipHop to another level introducing different themes into the music of HipHop and help popularise the music of Jazz music within HipHop. Jazz music is American Insitution. It one of the true Musical art forms to have been created in America. It wasn't until these two bands popularised the music in HipHop that other bands realised how important it is.

At the end of the day, the music is still fire, NYC to the fullest. Q stay funky and keep it dope.

Gang Starr has to be rated up there because of Dj Premier alone.. The beats and the music that he dropped for GURU TO PUT HIS OWN STYLE AND FLOW OVER IS LEGENDARY

dont get me wrong gangstar stuff was really good it just back talent was getting good like onyx,naughty by nature,still slick rick epmd.de la soul etc i always like mass appeal from gangstar plus one of my favorites the pharcyde how about the beatnuts

I loved the Fugees until I heard an interview with one of the female lead singers who said she would rather let her newborn baby be eaten alive by wolves than to let a white person raise him. Such blatant racism made me crush my cassette tape of the Fugees. Back in the day before CDs.

This doc means so much to me. It cleaned my ears of trash and introduced me to real hip-hop and Tribe who are now my favourite hip-hop artists of all time. Tribe were and still are the greatest in my opinion.

RIP Phife – you were a legend…
