ОтветитьUsed to watch your videos but hesitant to trust your opinion ever since you changed your top IEM list to include an IEM that you get a percentage of sells from (IE300). Your review for them wasn’t as favorable and then you suddenly placed them at number one recently. Confused and disappointed.
Ответить“It really comes down to your personal preferences” made me think of ChatGPT 😂
ОтветитьDamn, this review is crazy helpful :)
ОтветитьHow can anything with elastic bands can last 10 years?
ОтветитьI managed to fall in love with the 109 Pro and contaminated my band friend too. He bought one after me right the same week.
My warning that it's 800dollar did not bother him at all.
in Romania , 109 Pro are 700$, and they change alot with the chain used. Im a fan of 600 series , and i will buy 660s2 , but the much better headphone is 109 Pro .
ОтветитьMy 109’s arrived six days ago and I attached them to my streamer and let them run in for 100 hours. Initially there was some brightness, but things were sounding wonderful when I had an extended listen last night. I’m very happy with them.
ОтветитьLoved the 109 Pro! Sampled the entire Meze portfolio at this years Tampa Hifi expo.
Flat out most comfortable headphones from every brand. Musically enjoyable. The build quality at its price point is a steal. Even comparing to Focal clear’s and Arya’s during the same listening sessions, those sound great - but the weight is noticeable after an hour of enjoyment. Meze are like wearing air.
It would be interesting to see a comparison to the Audeze LCD-2C
ОтветитьHD660s2 Is amazing Headphone for 400 euros MAX ... After some months would be nice VFM
ОтветитьI cant trust anyone that rates Topping junk they get free 😂
ОтветитьI really hesitate to get the 109 with its elastic headband system and limited 2 year warranty.
ОтветитьHello, I am new to the Audiophile realm. I just purchased the Meze 109 Pro as my first pair of headphones. I would like some assistance from the community to decide which pair to get as my second. I am going to stick with 2 for the next few years. I am deciding between the Audeze LCD-X, LCD-XC, Hifiman Arya Stealth, Focal Clear MG. My budget is about 1400 plus tax. I was also thinking about getting the Audeze LCD-2 Classic and Hifiman Edition XS together for the price. Can anyone make any recommendations.
ОтветитьFunny how people forget the big price difference.
ОтветитьI demo'ed the 660s2 and meze 109 in Tokyo. I enjoyed the 660s2 more.
ОтветитьLies. You don't need an external dac or amp to drive the HD600's on a laptop or pc and you know it dude!
ОтветитьThe Meze looks beautiful.
ОтветитьThe Nectar Ambrosia is a way better headphone then both these 2! If it was sold on the market to everyone would easily be a contender for headphone of the year
ОтветитьHifiman Edition XS or Meze 109 pro?
ОтветитьSounds like I made the right choice.
ОтветитьI applaud you for your integrity I want an unbiased review.
ОтветитьI own the HD-600, it was the first high end headphone I ever purchased, back around 1999 I believe. The first pair somehow wound up in the bottom of the dishwasher while I was at work one night and that didn't work out well. It was actually my one year old son who dropped them in while his mother had her back turned and she didn't realize. I have since bought a 2nd pair. I also own the Meze 109 Pro. I love both headphones but if I were to choose just one I'd choose the Meze. It's a beautiful headphone. It sounds tremendous to my ears. The earpads are just so comfortable. Clamp force is perfect for my big melon. I think the 109 Pro pads beat those on the Elex or the HD-600 series. It's really a terrific headphone on all accounts in my opinion. I see no real cons here.
ОтветитьSo basically, the S2 combined with the iFi Audio X-Bass and X-Space amp features would be the equalizer?
ОтветитьJoshua, you are a fan of the Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro and I have them as well. How do the Meze compare to the 1990pro?
Which do you prefer?
Thanks in advance
I have a problem with headphones but I really like them - also I cannot use anything that goes in my ears. Headphones are great because they are detailed and accurate but I hate them with some music especially if is too enthusiastically stereophonic because it hurts my ears, I think this is because if I hear live music I move my head around and I can isolate the instrument or vocalist for a few seconds but with headphones I cannot modify how I track sound because it is inbuilt and I get no relief. I also like high quality speakers because the sound is all around me rather than the feeling of being isolated from my surroundings. Are there headphones in the sub 1000 dollar class that would suit me? I know it sounds crazy but sometimes I prefer to hear music drifting in from the next room rather than having it directed at me.
Ответить109 is my favorite but fit sucks for my head
ОтветитьI'd pick the 660S2 any day if I have the money.
ОтветитьNot a fair comparison Meze 109 Pro is twice the price of the HD660S2 here in Australia at least.
ОтветитьThat settles it. I need both of them.
ОтветитьCan they work cordless?
ОтветитьI wish one of the reviews when covering genre had covered Classical as i mostly only listen to classical piano and orchestra and from the impression of the 109 it seems more rock and electro music which you addressed.
ОтветитьLovely review. What is the background track you play?
Ответитьlike bro your videos are too perfect, like in a clean room sterile kind of way.
ОтветитьGood to keep in mind that the HD660S2 will likely respond FAR better to tube amps than the Meze 109 will. That is the X factor with using such a high impedance set of cans.
The side effect is of course you need way more power to drive them. The HD660S2 can never get concert level on my phone, only normal to low volume. I have to use a fairly powerful DAP, dongle or dac/amp to get them to them there.
Pretty sure the Meze 109 Pro would get stupid loud on even the weakest MP3 player or phone as they claim only 40 ohms but also a sensitivity of 112 which is crazy high. Take the sensitivity number with a grain of salt of course as some companies use slightly different methods to test it, but it will never be off too much. The HD660S2 report 104 sensitivity for some cross reference. Cheers and happy listening!
Nice video! Honestly I would like to own them both. Sennheiser for tube usage and Meze for the rest.
These two kind seem to cover all the bases and I'd love to try out a pair of the Meze someday. Double the price is rough though! Gotta save up!
Just got my 109 pros. Amazing headphones. Strongly recommend
ОтветитьI like to try the 660 S2 because I liked the S1 a lot more than the original 600 / 650.
ОтветитьThe Meze 109 Pro is so beautiful. I wanted it to be more to my liking, but with my Lotoo Paw Gold Touch, the S2 just sounds much better to me. The 109 mids are too scooped for me. The 109 Pro treble is downright irritating to my ears. LPGT gives the S2 great delicacy and detail. All frequencies have the midas touch. Every frequency has a seat at the audio table.
Ответитьthe 660 S2 is worse for bass than the 600? uhh ok
ОтветитьYou saved me $800 for NOT buying 109, thank God!
ОтветитьAnanda Nano or this Meze 109 Pro. I cannot decide....
ОтветитьFunny, I did a head to head with these two cans AND the 109 won!!!
ОтветитьHi Joshua, can you do a comparison between the Focal Clear MG Pro and Meze 109 Pro?
ОтветитьOk, but HD660S2 is for 450 euros and Meze 109 Pro for 780 euros in middle Europe, so…
Ответитьi much prefer the 109. they sound wider, more fun and the bass goes deeper and more controlled. the s2 is somewhat a little too laid back for being an open back
ОтветитьI listened to both at CanJam Dallas 2024 and purchased the 109 Pro and Alba from Meze at the show. The S2 didnt sound as good as my 6XX to me, i also listened to the HD600 and i think they sound better than the 660s2 AND my 6XX.
I think the bass on the S2 sounded off to me, the balance on the HD600 was better across the range and i find the HD650/6XX splits the difference between the S2 and 600.
I think the 109 pro sounds like a Focal Clear (lite).
I had to A/B test back to back with my Focal Clear OG, then i could pick out the detail and difference.
If you dont go back and forth or daily listen to Focal Clears you could mistake the sound of the 109 for that of the Clears. My focals cost x2 the price. So the meze are a deal at the current price, especially on sale. Id get the 650/6XX over the 660S2... But after hearing the HD 600 that is now my first choice of the Sinn's
The end result is I own the 109 pro and an HD 6 series headphone, but listen to the 6 series first, if not go for a 650/6XX as it splits the difference between the S2 and HD 600
It's also worth noting both of these headphones respond to different amp. They both can mellow the treble just a small amount on some amps bringing it to a range where i think most people would be very happy.
On tubes or warmer amp like cavalli liquid spark , or the new fiio k11 R2R.
They sound great, though i think the Sinn's respond slightly better on the tubes vs the 109, but they both benifit from them.
On analytical and sterile amps like the THX, they can sound more resolving but the treble can be harsher and brittle . It removes some of the smoothness that makes the 109 attractive. The S2 might actually benifit from the THX to counter act some of the darkness from the more bassy tuning.
I havent tested the 660s2 on my Rupeet Neve Headphone amp, but the 109 pro and 6XX just sound about as good as there going to get on that amp, unless you spend thousands on a amp /DAC.
So amp wise if you want something balanced ,and has a great sound that should pair well with these 2 plus others like the Focal clears etc.
Spend the $500 and get a Rupert Neve. The amp makes a difference with these 2 cans
The 109 totally makes the "s" sounds very noticeable, and it's hard not to pay attention to it once you notice... I would have 100% preferred the 109 if it weren't for that. I wonder if there is a headphone with a similar sound signature in the same price range.
ОтветитьGreat review. Thx. Any thoughts on the preference between these two for classical? I have the Clear OG (based on your recommendation) and the 660s. Prefer the clear in every way apart from classical - when I prefer the intimacy of the 660s. I did hear the 109 pro is great for classical. Would appreciate your view. Cheers
