Twilight Princess Retrospective

I agree that Twilight Princess is the best 3d zelda game. To be fair, I only played up to gamecube zeldas, so no Breath of Wind and on. The worst was WW. The graphic was the best (loved the expressive Link), but the gameplay was bad for a zelda game. Not only was the game too easy, but there was too much of "nothingness" in the game. About 80% of the game was you doing nothing, assuming you're going 100% -- boat riding, taking pictures, salvaging, mapping, etc. Just a lot of nothing. Hell, there's only 4 dungeons in the game (5 if you include the final dungeon, which is almost as bad as you just going forward to the final boss room).

I don't get why they didn't update the enemy AI in the remake

God I remember reading reviews when TP came out and so many people complained about the soundtrack not being a real orchestra, and I was like, but the soundtrack is phenomenal, how are you complaining???? And then Skyward Sword came out with its real orchestra and I was so annoyed that the sky flying music didn't loop because it's hard to do that with real orchestration, I guess. It ends, there's a couple seconds of silence, and then the track starts playing again, and it always took me out.

Born same year this came out and played it when I was 4. 18 years later still remains as my first and favorite game.

Wind waker was my first but Twilight Princess is also my favorite

Yeah this was my second Zelda game (first being wind waker) and it’s one of my favorites if not my favorite. I’m so so glad I never knew it was disliked over the years or that would have upset me. I do not understand how you could dislike this game. It’s an adventure master piece. I’ll never forget me and my cousins getting it Christmas Eve, popping it in the GameCube and being in awe. Great memories, great game.

Snowpeak ruins essentially had elementary/middle school me deciding to never wear a coat, even in blizzard weather lol. If Link could take on a frozen wasteland in just a tunic and hat, why couldn't I in just a hoodie?

You say stamps don't serve a purpose, but they actually give you the Hylian alphabet. There are certain walls of text that can only be translated this way. Other than that, fantastic video.

I know it's not that well done by I like that Zelda gets to come back and carry the wisdom triforce. It has the same energy as disneys Hercules.

A true hero isn't someone who can do amazing things, it's someone who will risk and willingly sacrifice themselves for someone else and through that great sacrifice that there was no knowledge of being able to survive is what makes her worthy and bring her back as a true hero

This was the first Zelda I ever got invested in brute forcing to figure things out myself. And was probably also the longest game I ever finished at that time as a 12 year old. I constantly borrowed it from the library and finished it three times (on the Wii). I was so in love with the slightly darker vibe but also having little glimmers of hope and happiness. I have vowed to myself that the day they bring twilight princess to the switch, is the day I will definetly get a switch.

I’ve watched this like 1000 times but i wonder if you know at this point that the 100 gold skulltulas reward in oot is unlimited rupees. Still lame at that point in the game, plus rupees basically don’t matter in oot.

I like the symbolism of Wolf Link: he may be noble, but he can be savage. Also, wolves have been maligned for so long, it's great to see one in a heroic role.

It is incredible how opposite we are on Zelda. You hate windwaker for being linear and boring, I love windwaker for giving you plenty of things to explore and enjoy any time you just want to take a break from the main quest. I hate twilight princess for its open world feeling false and just getting the player to waste a lot of time going to "you're not supposed to go here yet" invisible walls that make the whole world feel fake and the whole story feel like a checklist of monotonous kid friendly dark fantasy tropes, mean while you love it for an epic sense of freedom and consider it the definition of an adventure game. It is always odd to see microcosms of two people experiencing approximately the same things, yet experiencing them in inverted fashions.

I just beat this on the GameCube. I'll be honest I kinda hated it. Especially when trying to get to the third dungeon. However it got a lot better after that. I loved the ice cavern and the zant fight was my favorite boss fight.

This game was my coping mechanism for my parent's divorce to be deeply honest with myself. Maybe that's why I love it so much to this day.

TP is a love letter to OOT

I absolutely loved this game when I first played it but the twilight hands section has stopped me from ever replaying it. Rage and stress all in one puzzle you have to do twice.

The fact that this was made before Breath of The Wild was crazy to hear and think about because that game has already gotten a sequel and I remember the years of hype and build up.

I may be the only person who likes the cartoonish face models and body proportions in the game.

I think one of the most under rated parts of twilight princess is how well camouflaged the dungeons are. So many of them you walk into and realise "Oh shit this is a dungeon" when before you were just casually exploring.

The issue with Zelda coming back after defeating zant in this game is the same issue I have with TOTK's ending. TOTK handeled its ending sequence with catching Zelda very very well, but I don't like that Zelda was just magically fine now because you blew up ganon. It felt like it completely undermined the entire plot surrounding her sacrifice to become that immortal dragon and heal the sword because now that sacrifice holds no weight.

I'm just now watching this video. The stamps poes and bug hunts are all significantly better than breath of the wild korok seed hunt. The rewards are significantly better but there's not much competition when the final reward is golden shit.

I personally disagree with your point around Amiibo support.

While I agree Wolf Amiibo is worse than the Ganondorf one, I’m honestly not happy with any sort of gameplay changes, and would prefer Amiibo support was cosmetic only.

Personally I tend to play games on the hardest difficulty I can, so when it comes to having the hardest Twilight Princess hardest challenge like you mentioned, it’s locked behind Amiibo Support and it’s more likely to make me want to play on Cemu where I can emulate an Amiibo instead of actually playing it on WiiU.

Twilight Princess is my 3rd favorite Zelda game right behind Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time.

Finding out that this is the Sequel to Ocarina made me want to give it another go after absolutely loving OoT. Great video big man.
