I find it very refreshing to not hide behind some fancy clothes and if everyone is allowed to be dressed the way they want, it is not disrespectful at all.
Ответитьi farted
ОтветитьIt's fascinating to think about people opting to wear shorts and flip flops in a restaurant being able to vote in elections. Not only that, their vote counts just as much as yours.
ОтветитьWere the flip flop shorts wearing customers Americans ?...just wondering
ОтветитьI've been binge-watching your channel and after awhile the feasts slightly blur into each other, but this restaurant really stands out for me as it evidently did for you. Everything looks so inviting and vibrant -- the concepts, the plating, the food. I'm a Londoner so will have to book a table!
ОтветитьThose “slums” used to house interesting cultured bohemian types. Now the area is congested with the bland suits who make their money in the city casino. Shame
ОтветитьI agree with you on style, at least make sure it is a style if you are to spend that amount of money on food, you should at least be able to pull off the "casucal chic" style of decent jeans and a well fitting T-shirt (and no, T-shirt does not have to cost more than the meal, even if it perhaps should if you wrer going to a cheap place).
ОтветитьUnfortunately gentrification like what happened in Notting Hill is not "something good coming from humble beginnings", it was displacement of the disenfrachised. It did not solve the social problems, it just moved them.
ОтветитьShorts and flipflops to a 3 star restaurant? Maybe they're on to something, perhaps try it yourself! ;-)
ОтветитьFully agree with you on the dress code. Even though I am not the smartest dresser, when one goes out and spends an uncommonly large amount on a meal, it is a special occasion. How those around you present themselves can affect your experience, and someone flip flopping their way to the bathroom just reeks of the mundane. So much effort goes into elevating the food, as a guest you should elevate yourself.
ОтветитьYeah an old style eating outfit is generally what you should have in a UK place. When my family had an old style school house they would rent for the family to stay in. You would change into your dinning outfit.
ОтветитьDish sizes seem good too for the amount of food you are getting.
ОтветитьClare Smyth One of Gordon's students, right?
ОтветитьFoie gras? It’s terrible they still sell this!
ОтветитьReally happy you visited Core she’s an amazing Chef need to go to Oncore next down under
ОтветитьI enjoy your videos as a way for me to travel virtually to luxurious restaurants I'll most likely never get to visit. As a vegan, I can't help but wonder how many animals had to be killed for every one of your restaurant meals. I've never counted, but I'm guessing the number probably averages at least 10 per meal.
ОтветитьGreat looking menu
ОтветитьWe had lunch at Core yesterday and it was brilliant! Their ability to transform the simple into the sublime was mind-blowing. Everything was first rate. The highlights were the onion and the potato dishes. Outstanding!
ОтветитьWhen I am in London, I will deffinitely visit the place. It´s truth, that I prever old classic and opulent style decorating like from baroque era, but despite this being modern, it really looks cozy. Very nice!!!
ОтветитьAnother chef who focuses on sustainability, Alexander and his family fly around the world stuffing their gobs. Just as well someone believes in sustainable methods. I really enjoyed watching the first few of his vids, now he just makes me sick to the core. The shoes comment just shows how trivial his worldview is too and makes me glad to not be part of this whole 'luxury' lifestyle. Revolting.
ОтветитьI'm sorry, but foie gras and sustainability are two words that don't match.
ОтветитьI agree... Shorts and flipflops? Really? Sure, if its hot weather some chino shorts but at least slip on some deck shoes or something with a nice shirt.
Ответитьgoing there in may, cant wait 🙂
ОтветитьClare Smyth kept Gordons 3 Michelin Stars for 9 years allowing him to go and do his thing. He (GR) is a brilliant brilliant cook, but he needs these great commanders too. As a decent chef myself I am past needing to be impressed by 3 Michelin Stars, I did stages at the Waterside Inn in Bray, the greatest restaurant under the finest chef, Michel Roux Senior, it will ever be my privilege to know, but cuisine moves on. However, with great luxury ingredients like Caviar, you just need to serve it. I would like to experience her cooking at Core. It's the only one now. I've eaten at Hospital Row and Monaco Louis XIV, and could never afford to pay now the extreme prices charged, especially for wines, but as a restaurateur myself, you have to make your money somewhere. Most of the staff need paying and the overheads are stupefying. Try buying 50 covers of Christofle 'Garden of Eden' Cutlery at Gordon Ramsays, the bill is more than your house.
ОтветитьFantastic video! Genuinely astounding that someone would even consider wearing shorts and flip flops to a restaurant like this, let alone any other high end establishment.
ОтветитьGreat to see this restaurant again. I worked here as a Chef from 2018-2020
ОтветитьTaking surruptitious video of someone without their consent just to criticize them is a real dick move. I expected better from this channel. A shame.
ОтветитьI loved the look of the restaurant, their food, and expression. However, I don't know that I agree with your conclusion on the flip flops and cargo shorts. Though I myself would not turn up to such an establishment dressed in this fashion, our clothes have little to do with the experience. It's all just window dressing for what actually matters. Anyone and everyone no matter their own personal style should be able to experience such wonderful food, and a persons comfort should be paramount to the experience. So long as they aren't in their birthday suit imo it's fair game.
Ответитьno such thing as get or humble or job or challenx or bigx or musx or takex or respecx or inapproaprix or etc, cpeuxuax, outx, can outx etc any nmw s perfx
ОтветитьIve been a fan of this channel for a while but the only thing i disagree with is your Boomer attitude towards flip flops and shorts. Luxury is all about happiness and individuality, not 20th Century preconceived notions regarding high end eating.
ОтветитьThis has got to be one of the very best restaurants in the world surely, at such a low price the food looks worth x10 !!
ОтветитьHave to say about the flip flop guy, this isnt your establishment to criticize the actions and decisions of other people unless it directly harmed you.
The way folks perceive art differs, such as how in games, you have speed runners and competitive players finding exploits, movie/tv viewers experiencing the content you make differently through different audio equipment and screens, musicians with different ohm frequencies and different audio settings for their preferred way of listening, such as with food, people can interpret the means of how food is eaten differently to feel the most comfortable to how they like eating food.
We dont know flip flop guy, but we most certainly are not flip flop guy that, unless he put his foot on our food, or kicked us, that guy doesnt matter. As a new yorker, it goes MYOB, mind your own business, or MYFB, mind your f***ing business
If a guy wanted to come in and dress up like Kenny Omega at CES 2015, if he is allowed to by the staff, he is allowed to, as long as you still keep the same high level of service and attention
Lets not be jerks and assholes just because we let the whims of others affect us. Thats pretty self-centered, even if you are paying top dollar, thats really self-centered
I have to agree about the dresscode. If the Kitchen and the Staff is giving their all to you as a costumer, you can atlest dress appropriate. Respect goes both ways.
ОтветитьQuick Point. Love this channel, watch reviews while eating, makes my food taste better! Clear, concise and interesting. However, I just cant justify spending 500 pound/euro/dollars anymore on Michelin star restaurants, I walked past a queue at a food bank on christmas weekend, and i still cant get the looks on the faces of about 19 fathers who were there to feed their children for christmas. Helpless, ashamed and a look that said they felt no dignity. In 2023/2024 look at the world and teachnology and we LET it happen? Sorry for the rant, it just broke me, anyway back to the reviews, happy new year guys!!!
ОтветитьThank you Alexander.
ОтветитьMy only gripe is the chef believes in supposed "sustainability" but serves foie gras??? I guess its separate from humane.. :/
ОтветитьWhat beautiful plates!
ОтветитьI ate the bar food menu at their bar - 3 Michelin stars means that it is worth traveling to that city and country to just eat at the restaurant alone and do nothing else while you’re there…
… and if somebody told me that Core By Clare Smyth is the best bar ever, my experience EXCEEDED my expectations! Phenomenal and I’d rather drink here than the other “top cocktail lounges” of London. 6/5 stars for sure 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻
Wow!
Ответитьlets see
ОтветитьThe most beautiful presentation ever
ОтветитьMy goodness that Grand Cru...
ОтветитьHow beautiful 😻
ОтветитьAnother great review Alexander! You must come down to Sydney to try Clare’s restaurant here - Oncore, it’s phenomenal. I’m so keen to try Core in London.
Ответитьthank you.
ОтветитьInteresting if you can put out a video on how you translate these experiences to your own restaurant!
ОтветитьI agree that I would be definitely turned off by flip-flops and shorts in a place like that. The place looks amazing, and your presentations of it and the dishes are wonderful.
