Just got the 4k blu ray to watch soon. I haven't seen it on laserdisc yet but I'll certainly be using your recommendations before picking it up.
ОтветитьAw yeah, more culturedog content.
I should've kept my AC-3 widescreen copy but I sold it for silly money lol
Can you do a video on LD Squeeze - What it looks like compared to other LD - Nice to see (or any of your team)
ОтветитьVery interesting. Warners rarely seemed to do many re-issues for AC-3 Dolby Digital, unlike some of other studios, at least according to LDDb. Big Warner Bros movies like Lethal Weapon, Superman, & The Fugitive have no documented AC-3 reissues. I'm always thinking in the back of my head that there's a possibility that LDDb likely doesn't have every major release documented. Always a sliver of a chance something exists that's not on there.
ОтветитьWtching this as I go check which one I have...
ОтветитьThat late Lost Boys LD looks pretty slick, probably looks better than the snapper case DVD transfer wise. I only have the blu ray of this movie, I am thinking about getting the 4K but not sure yet. Have you seen the two sequels to this film?
ОтветитьWHOA, a new Culturedog solo video! haha been a minute. LOVE The Lost Boys! It was one of the 1st 4K UHDs I bought after I got my player...Don't own the laserdisc, but I DO have the so bad, it's good Solarbabies LD coming in the mail soon, also starring Jamie Gertz 😜
ОтветитьThe dog has risen from the laser dead and entered via the open hatch to drop a video that also is a good run through of Warner LD issue practices for non boxsets that saw several reissues.
This really hits all the Warner iterations: pan and scan and then first widescreen both with and without silver bars and then a late release remaster with ac3.
I know the ac3 is limited due to low quantities made but people pay stupid money for it at times.
Hah, I recognize a lot of the anime LD box sets on the top of the shelf in back. (Like that Space Cobra movie box on the far left - I have the matching TV series set.) They went all-out with those releases in Japan.
ОтветитьTop stuff, didn't know about this one!
ОтветитьI bought this about 15 years ago for 5 UK pounds and 3 pounds delivery... And it's perfect.
ОтветитьNice informative stuff - Cheers
Ответить1998? Welp... The lack of that terrible sounding midi Warner Home Video logo already makes it a worse pressing in my book.
Ответитьthe Laser Disc movies are very old. And hard to find specific titles. Dvds and blu rays have a disc rot problem. Retro is the new hotness. Look at VHS, the film will crumble. But it really boils down to Rarity and condition.
ОтветитьIs the AC-3 track unique to this LD? I
ОтветитьNever had a lost boys in my collection
ОтветитьMy first LD pickup was Lost Boys Silver Strip P&S and I'm still on the lookout for the LBX/AC3 re-issue :) Awesome video!
Ответить30th
ОтветитьGawd , this video makes me want to start collecting laserdics -- But I already collect too much
I've always drooled over star wars Trilogy (Japanese uncut NON-special edition), blade runner & pulp fiction plus many other multidisc special edition lazerdics I've spotted in retail stores back in the 1990s
My AC3 Lost Boys is a disc I'd keep even if I got rid of my collection.
ОтветитьI have the first widescreen with a more open ratio and love the film. Was planning on getting the 4K but it sold out so fast I couldn’t get a copy.
I’m very happy with my LD and I’m pretty sure I’ll find the ac3 LD before the 4K for a reasonable price. People really want gold for their junk 😅 at least I know I’m not the fool feeding the cause
Sam lives!
ОтветитьWTF ! $1399 for dolby 4.2.4 what are those blu ray forum kiddies smoking ! ? movie load of overrated rubbish , got it on that rubbish blu disc not watched it for 4 years now
ОтветитьGTN
ОтветитьGreat video! I started collecting laserdiscs and VHS back in January for a retro movie room I made with a projector and 100" screen. I have almost 500 laserdisc titles now. I've really been enjoying the experience learning about this format that I couldn't afford back in the 90's being in my late teens. There's so many unique titles like The Best of the Grammy's Vol 1 and 2 that I love just for the archived video of special events. Keep up the great work bringing us these videos and your insight!
ОтветитьThere more variants of lost boys on LD then wedding crashers on dvd good grief.
ОтветитьWe need the culture! Keep coming back! Your zesty commentary and enthusiastic energy is appreciated!
ОтветитьGreat to see you doing a new laserdisc video! Would love to see you do a video on laserdisc player repairs and the experiences you have had. Thanks
ОтветитьGood to see you back up and running bro!
ОтветитьThis was a cool surprise. You rule CultureDog
ОтветитьWho still owns a laser disc player? The eighties called, they ordered you an Uber so you can get a ride to 2024.
ОтветитьEnjoy the content. It encouraged me to purchase a player and hunt for the movies I enjoyed.
ОтветитьCan you explain other releases that go for a lot, such as The Wizard?
Is open matte that important for that particular film?
I was a teen when this came out. Had a crush on Jamie Gertz. Always wondered if I was the only one..?
