Soh Daiko on Tour: Roosevelt Island

The next stop on our virtual tour is Roosevelt Island! Situated between Manhattan and Queens, Roosevelt Island hosts an annual Cherry Blossom Festival that features a variety of Japanese art and performances amid the beautiful, blossoming cherry trees in Four Freedoms Park.

This week's featured piece is Symmetrical Soundscapes, composed by the incredible master taiko drummer Kenny Endo. Symmetrical Soundscapes consists of traditional patterns of Edo Bayashi, or Tokyo festival music, Brazilian Samba rhythms, and improvised musical "conversations." We are honored to be allowed to perform this signature piece and be able to share it with you all over the years.
