'...why should a Beatle fall for a bottle?' I never heard any of those guys were alcoholics. 🤪😁
But seriously folks. I've heard Noam Chomsky make similar arguments. In fact if I'm reading him correctly it kinda lays at the heart of his theory of language.
BTW, love the animations.

I blocked out the squares around the brown and yellow squares, and the brown one is obviously darker. Not a lot, but darker.

The dress issue is due to the effect shadow has on the observer and "how" they choose to interpret what is being asked when they see the colors of the dress. If you paint your wall a light grey, in low light situations, it will look dark grey. If you know for a fact that the wall color is light gray, you might say "light gray", discounting the shadow effect. Someone else, who is going only on their observation, might say "dark gray", due to the effect of the shadow. In full light, the dress was white and gold...but in shadow it appeared to be more blue and black. The differences in answers is due to whether people compensate for the shadow effect or not.

I had a stroke a year ago so I perceive stairs as dangerous. To be fair I fell and broke my arm two years ago so my perception isn't wrong. It's those kids who run up and down the stairs who don't see what I see.

It's becoming a serious problem in Japan. It used to be just porn. But porn involves real women. It gave men something to aspire to. Now AI is being used to generate photorealistic pornographic images. The women in Japanese porn now are now not even necessarily real. No actress or model had to be paid. They even have chat bots who can speak Japanese so your "waifu" can tell you how much she loves you before she performs for you. These guys might as well be humping beer bottles.

Colors are so weird, or at least the human perception of it. I saw a vsauce video on colors and how we don’t and cannot know if the colors we are seeing are the same as other peoples. Like I can say “this is blue right?” And they can agree but we cannot truly know if what they saw was the same blue we are seeing. Our worlds can look totally different from each other and we’d all think it’s normal…

...um. The issue is simpler than this. We've been able to hook-up electrodes to the backs of the eye-balls of various animals, to see what they see on TV monitors. Often, they don't see a bent oar in the water. Turtles can see everything on a shore, up to a 100 yds off-shore, while under water, and many frogs see everything in shapes of triangles. What we see concerns how our eyes process the blue red light spectrum.

I've just discovered your channel and, thus far, I'm loving it.

I'm literally, Broker than The Ten Commandments after Moses got done "Delivering" Them to The People!
Or maybe, It's All a matter of POV?!

The dress; My Eyes Discern Alabaster and Earth Tones light brown. On this small screen.
(Owls Are one of the very few Birds that can See the color "Blue". Most Birds can See in Ultraviolet and This drowns out Blue makes it look either black Or silver.)

The "Brain Storm" vs "Green Needle" was a beautiful example of How my Tone Deafness barely discerns the average Human voice when Other tones, more audible or just louder, subdue what I can make Out when Folk speak to me. I heard "Green Needle" Very well, despite the shrieking whisper Like voice, but, something Like just "ehrm" Mixed up with It. It's Not At All something I'd prefer to hear! "Green Needle"?! WHY Would anybody want to hear about Green Needles (unless you're a horticulturist growing pine trees, of course!🤪). When I closed my eyes and replayed It I almost Heard "Vin Diesel"! Another Try and I clearly Heard "Rain-Geese"! Either Way, I'm Fairly certain that It's NOT a matter of personal preferences.)

The Color change Experiment happens when the Color Cells (Cones) become momentarily depleted from staring at a single color and then suddenly exposed to another coloy. The brain struggles with the color deficit for a couple moments before correcting the Data. But, That's NOT a Hallucination or aberration. We learned this oddity in additive light theory in college Art Class. The science may be outdated by government mandate.. er .. Uhm... By Now!🤪
The color dot experiment just doesn't work with my Very Wide periferal vision.
Have you ever tried staring at one drawing for a couple minutes and then looking at another Or just a blank page?
That's a very similar Thing!
The problem ruined many CRT screens when an Image Was paused Too Long and became permanently etched into the screen!

Maybe Reality is like The Notion Of The Simulation Hypothesis or The Big Brain Theory (The Universe is a Simulation Or a Dream in A Cosmic Mind Or that It, IS, Itself, A Cosmic Mind) fits ludicrously well with several Religions. Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, Christianity, Judaism, and New Age Mysticism!
ie: "Genesis 1:1 Says: "The Universe is a Simulation!"
John 1:1 Says: "So's God!"

I think it's Hinduism that Has the concept of a God who's Dreaming about The Universe; and so Long as He's asleep dreaming, We Exist. But, when He wakes up, We Cease to Exist. Either Way:
"We are All Merely The Fools In Somebody Else's Dream!"

After All, The Bible Defines My Christian God as Perfect , Spirit, Invisible, and The Light Of Eternal Mind!
Hence: Simulation!

Maybe, Reality, is Whatever, REALITY, Wants To Be!???

Okay, that's a trifle "Existentially Challenged", but, It's The same problems with understanding What, Actually, IS Light! Wave? Particle? Wave-Particle? Or maybe everything's actually just Made Of Strings and Vibrations?!

I Love Science!!!

If My Religion is Not condemning Me for My Sins, Science is suggesting That I Might Not Even actually EXIST!🙀😱🤪😵‍💫💖

After some work, I can now switch between all of these at will: brain storm, green needle, grain store, brain store, drain store.

No guarantees this will work for others, but for hearing brain storm, I just want to. That seems to be my usual default. For green needle, it's much harder to get it, unless I focus on the N at the end of Green. I just want to hear "green" and then focus on that N and imagine it being drawn out a bit. Then I hear the whistle sound after it as if it was a quick H between N and EE in Nheedle. Instead of ST. For any of the store" ones, just focus on how the end of the audio clip actually doesn't have the M sound; when you hear brain storm, it sounds more like you're hearing brain storrruh and your brain is assuming an M was intended but forgotten. So just focus on how that M is missing and you hear store. Then pick ay vowel, and G, B, or D at will for the start. (All voiced stops.) D seems to be harder but possible.

I don't really get a big point of the video, and for me it was kind of pointless. It is very obvious for me that we don't and we never will perceive the whole "picture" with our brains. And the same is obvious that our senses aren't perfect or our brain, they don't have to be. Senses evolved to help us in survival and they are doing a great job at it, it doesn't really matter that much if we see white or a red dot. We perceive "reality" in our own little primitive human way. The same we could say that we don't perceive reality because we don't see protons, neutrons, electrons, quarks in our body, or that we don't even see virusses just floating around, because we just don't need to see those things.

Are you sure the illusion after wathcing the green and head square for a while is produced by the brain? I suspect that in this exampe the illusion comes from a kind of chemical fatigue of the receptors in the eye...

James Burke, technology historian, had a TV series The Day the Universe Changed .In the series, he repeatedly asserted "Things are what our senses tell us they are." In the last episode, he explains the title: Showing a geocentric model of the solar system, he says that it is not the case that the people before Copernicus lived in a heliocentric system, but were wrong about it. If they had to make a decision based on which model solar system was real, they would have made the decision based on living in the geocentric model.

The problem is if all is perception and nothing can be shown as being real, can we even know we have a brain, is that not also a matter of perception. We can talk of having a mind, if we restrict the concept of mind as simply a container of some kind that contains information, but the concept of brain is more about biology than about information, and one has to ask whether we can know anything about biology if we cannot trust our senses?
