On the topic of colonialisation and poverty : This conversation covers economics only... What is missing is the parallel influence of government policies and laws.... Some valid points are sited in regards to some positive impacts of colonialisation in the form of multinational economics (talked about in this except)

However, the negative effects of multinational economics, politics, and the legal system are completely ignored... So the assessment of the net influence of colonialisation is incomplete.

I have told so many people that geographical location, climate and land type played such an important role in advancing countries years ago. This then gave those countries a massive head start. Honestly, when thinking about colonialism, I like to raise this question: Would you rather be conquered by the hispanic or by the Aztecs? Initial conquest are always brutal it’s what comes afterwards that makes a colonial situation good or bad. The British were generally very good to their colonial conquest while someone like say the Spanish or the Belgians of all people were awful and murderous for far longer than was needed. Resulting in a place like the Congo still a horrible strife riddled backwater.

I have recently discovered Thomas Powell and have his book " Social Justice Fallacies", a superb read of facts attacking fiction. An excellent book on the subject of Colonialism is "Colonialism, a moral reckoning" by Prof. Nigel Biggar, highly reccommended.

Good point but he totally neglects that western europe instituted a global system of permanent racial hiearchy that has severely affected blacks negatively. In those other countries assimulation was seamless.
