I have recently discovered Thomas Powell and have his book " Social Justice Fallacies", a superb read of facts attacking fiction. An excellent book on the subject of Colonialism is "Colonialism, a moral reckoning" by Prof. Nigel Biggar, highly reccommended.

Initial conquest are always brutal it’s what comes afterwards that makes a colonial situation good or bad. The British were generally very good to their colonial conquest while someone like say the Spanish or the Belgians of all people were awful and murderous for far longer than was needed. 1) Churchill was 2000 years after the Roman conquest of Britain, not 1000 years

3) England did not conquer Scotland - the Act of Union was a political act where the two sovereign nations joined to become one.

Thats not true, even less true in modern days where is demostrated the strong exploitation of imperialistic countries, particularly US and European countries which up until now, france for example, they continue african exploitation. There is no such progress, that "progress" is in terms of colonial countries that first try eliminate locals (ask native americans) then take the resources and they exploit them in their own beneffit. You can't say there is progress when you kill natives, or relocate them according to your own convenience, you dont steal territories. What he's saying is bs. I have told so many people that geographical location, climate and land type played such an important role in advancing countries years ago. This then gave those countries a massive head start. But most just couldn’t understand why and still blamed racism, colonialism etc. it’s very simple I don’t understand why some find it so hard to grasp. On the topic of colonialisation and poverty : This conversation covers economics only... What is missing is the parallel influence of government policies and laws.... Some valid points are sited in regards to some positive impacts of colonialisation in the form of multinational economics (talked about in this except)

However, the negative effects of multinational economics, politics, and the legal system are completely ignored... So the assessment of the net influence of colonialisation is incomplete.
