This probably has to do with historical accuracy. I don't think people were saying "fuck" casually back in those days, they were only saying when they actually meant to insult.

It actually carried weight when John decided to drop an f bomb due to how little they used it

I feel like really thinking about the fact that they use fewer F-Bombs in the series is a charm of good luck that helps bring this game to life and gives us hope this will become a larger franchise than ever. ❤❤❤ who needs unnecessary cussing.

There’s another non story instance in rdr2 where in a stranger event, if John or Arthur lie to The stranger, they would end up saying, “Fuck the deal”

My favorite of all the instances of John Marston swearing is him threatening that guy. Man essentially says: “Don’t worry about your family, they’re fine. Oh by the way, here’s some more work we’re gonna force you to do”

And John (understandably) responds simply: “You want me to blow a fucking hole in your head?”

Because f-word was not cool in those years but now its don't have any difference from a breakfast people just can't do without it

Can we take a moment and reflect on how incredible Rob Wiethoff's performance is in this game, especially for a pretty much non professional actor. Hes unreal

For the first too, he is saying in response to someone saying it to him.
For the one with Fordham, he is at his most angry since he had just achieved his goal of killing Bill as well as Javier and is now being told he still can't see his family.
The last one is because he just got mauled by a bear (reasonable)

Interesting that the first two times he uses it it's basically a quote.

He's probably the least profane character in the series

Even better that two of those times was just parroting it back to somebody else's use of it. The other two times were one of John being EXTREMELY angry, and the second one being after a near death experience. Good stuff.

John's specific "You want me to take out a gun and blow a fucking hole in your head, right here, right now? You want that?" Was so cathartic in a way. Honestly, I love the whole gang having been under Dutch with him more or less as a teacher, makes a lot of them feel so well spoken compared to the others you find out in the world.

Shame we never got Undead Nightmare, but still hopeful for a third game... Like a decade from now, probably.

There’s actually another one in rdr2 but you can also do it as Arthur because it’s an encounter in Valentine.

I think there’s a side quest in RDR2 where he can say it to…although maybe that doesn’t count since Arthur is probably the “intended” character for that.

And only two of these were 100 percent his own words.
