there's a star citizen developer video where they showcased how they created procedural/rule-based method of producing Sci-Fi corridors, and i was like... fuck, do these developers know the potential of what they have created? They've basically created a floorplan generator.

About GameDev. They already far from architectures and designers because they've studied how to collaborate with their fans and customers. In games you can't interact with the world and be a part of story of that world. That's what we need to get from games. Or , maybe, even start to make not buildings but stories. Not renderings but virtual worlds...

I'm with you on this boat. Already starting my projects from scratch in Grasshopper from analysis to concept to development. It's incomparable to old fashion " idea first" design. Now is a time of "analysis first" projects.

Dr. I appreciate your position. I too wished we could be more remote work friendly in this field. I agree that if we want to truly stay relevant as a profession we need to move past the ego and precedent of being the next corbusier or frank lloyd Wright. We can also build better more sustainable buildings. It is sat to think that we spend 80% of our lives indoors inside all these shitty boxes.

Hi there, big fan of this channel and Programming Architecture as a company and its philosophy.

As an architect, and strong supporter of investing in the power of computers for our profession, I also think a studio logistics in which the design process is divided in different specific areas would lead to optimized workflows.

In fact I would go as far as to say I do support a stronger specialization and division of labors in a studio. I won't insist on this being the best idea since I just got my degree a few months ago and I lack the necessary experience in the field, but I do tend to see people (myself included) graduating without really focusing in any area (in Spain we have a generalist Master's degree by default instead of specialization) and then struggling to find a specific position in a company since everyone's CV looks generic and similar. I also think, given how broad and interdisciplinary our field currently is, and how building regulations are getting more and more complex and strict, that taking a holistic approach towards architecture (from an architect's point of view, not a company's) puts us at a disadvantage compared to other professions also found in our industry (structural, systems engineers etc) which have a more focused education and have the upper hand against us in their respective fields. In short I'd say, even if I respect the fact that we're taught the basics of construction engineering, I see us architects' role in the future drifting towards design, thus focusing on specific tasks and leaving the rest to other agents. Just as you say, the engineering part is much more sophisticated today than it was in the last centuries.

Now my question for you is, how would you highlight the virtues of adopting specialised workflows in places in which our profession is practiced following a holistic approach? Do you think a programmatic / computarized approach to architecture can be applied in more traditional building cultures, and specially in small-scale studios and projects?

Thank you very much, looking forward to more videos!
