It would be a waste of money. Broadcast news networks are dying and it's only happening faster and faster each passing day. The largest audience for these networks is the Boomers and they are aging out of the population. The next largest is Millennials and even then as they get older their trust in it has been disappearing. Gen X never really trusted them and that trust has only dropped but we still make up the third largest group and Gen Z is by and large not interested in them at all preferring pod casts for their information. Musk hits it off more with Gen X and Gen Z than he does with Boomers and Millennials and Boomers and Millennials comprise something like 70-80% of the people that get their news from legacy sources like Fox, MSNBC CNN, ETC. So buying up one of these companies is a waste of time and money, especially when the cost to buy is higher than the cost to start his own. If he really wants access to the legacy networks assets he could just buy one of the many studios that are getting sold off by the banks after they came to collect debt that could never be paid back.
