no one knows how to vote, the amount of peoples who said to me "i thought we were voting for a new gov, not TDs" . most people vote for the best looking picture or who they know dnt even realize they are voting for the same party year after year and give out how bad they are.

No free speech = no democracy.
Broadcast media is heavily censored and biased.
If you don't allow people to discuss freely issues which affect them you have absolutely no right to blame them for not voting.

From a once off commenter: I am very happy with our centrist government. I have never seen our country do so well. Government has delivered with a few exceptions. Plenty of job opportunities for people to make money. Government should focus on bread and butter issues now especially with supporting our SMEs and reducing waste. For those complaining in the comments. If you want a left/centre government, join your party of your choice and prepare for next election, complaining here is a complete waste of time.

Democracy means you have the democratic right not to. When you have the two main parties in the country who form a coalition then you can understand why people are slowly refusing to vote because no matter what you do they will always have the majority. Imagine if the conservatives and Labour joined in the UK? Each election the vote percentage will fall and the main parties share will also slowly fall due to an aging population. It will be years however before it changes, hence disillusionment in voting. As for Paul Reynolds if the government repeatedly gives money to rte and other news organisations to highlight certain narratives and downplay others then you can understand why people think this of the lack of diversity of thought in our news reporting. Living in bubbles and not the real world hence 40% not voting. It's an opinion that is mine, you may not agree but it sort of makes sense to me.

He's sinn fein.I fear lobbying TDs that have already been lobbied is meaningless, as they've been in power for 14 years and still have a cap on recruiting in the front line services.
As for independent TDs, just another pay day and their pensions look better.
Not a clue about government only attending funerals and kissing babies.
